Rattler Days Preview: Stage is Set for Final Stretch of Regular Season

The PBR Team Series returns for its final stretch of matches this weekend, beginning in Fort Worth for Rattler Days.
After a weekend in Greensboro with no movement in the standings, the stage is set for potentially drastic changes.
The Missouri Thunder and Paulo Eduardo Rossetto are positioned to continue their reign. But the Nashville Stampede are immediately behind them and are eager to get back into 1st place.
Furthermore, the bottom four teams are all within a game of each other, including the 9th-place Outlaws and 10th-place Mavericks, who face each other Friday.
Only four events remain for teams to finish the season strong before the Teams Championship. Here’s what you need to know about each team heading into Rattler Days.
Missouri Thunder:
For the second event in a row, the Missouri Thunder enter atop the league standings with a 16-7 record.
But for the third event in a row, the Thunder share an identical record with the Stampede.
Both teams lead the rest of the league by two games. However, the Thunder lead the Stampede by four rides, worth 356.35 points. The Thunder lead the league with 57 rides, while the Stampede’s 53 rides are good for 3rd-best.
With just 12 games left in the regular season, the Thunder are looking to get ahead of the Stampede sooner rather than later.
The Thunder are 13-2 in their last 15 games thanks to an incredible team effort. They scored 43-of-75 during that streak, and 14 of those rides belong to Paulo Eduardo Rossetto.
Rossetto snapped a 15-ride streak after bucking off in Game 3 in Greensboro. It’s the longest ridestreak in Team Series history, and the 3rd-longest in Premier Series history.
He’s covered 19-of-23 so far this season, but is still 95 points shy of Jose Vitor Leme and the #1 spot in the MVP race
Rossetto has an incredible supporting cast behind him. Julio Cesar Marques, Felipe Furlan, and Macualie Leather are all ranked inside the Top 25. Besides the Stampede, the Thunder have the most riders ranked inside the Top 25 in the league. They’re tied with the Stampede for most riders inside the Top 10, with two each.
Cesar Marques is ranked 10th, with 12-of-23 ridden this season. He’s covered nine of his last 15. Felipe Furlan and Macualie Leather have each ridden more than 45% of their bulls this season.
Leather has scored seven rides for a league-best 90.01 points per ride. Four of his seven rides were 90+, and they’re the only 90+ point rides of his career.
The Thunder will start their weekend against a spiraling Arizona Ridge Rider team that has yet to sort out their issues.
Nashville Stampede:
For the third straight event, the Nashville Stampede enter a weekend with an identical record to the Missouri Thunder. But for the second straight event, however, the Stampede sit in 2nd place, not 1st.
Nashville has won five of their last six games, but has failed to keep up with the Thunder’s total rides as a team. With 53 rides so far this season, the Stampede trail the Thunder by four rides. That’s the widest gap in rides between the two teams since the fourth event of the season in Nashville.
Now, heading into Fort Worth, the Stampede’s best chance at reclaiming the #1 spot is to out-win the Thunder.
They’ll get a great opportunity for a win on Friday against the 9-14 Florida Freedom. However, the Freedom will have 2x League MVP John Crimber back in their lineup.
But Nashville arguably has the best roster in the league. The Stamede have a league-leading five riders in the Top 25 and two in the Top 10.
Those five; Alan de Souza, Rogério Venâncio, Riquelme Silva, Daniel Feitosa, and Gustavo Luiz da Silva have combined for all 53 of the team’s rides this season. De Souza and Venâncio lead the team in 4th and 7th place, respectively, but it’s been de Souza and da Silva who have led the team as of late. De Souza has covered eight of his last 11, including his last three. Da Silva has covered six of his last eight.
The Stampede hold a two-game lead over the 3rd-place Carolina Cowboys and enter Fort Worth with the ability to earn their third consecutive positive event finish.
Carolina Cowboys:
The Carolina Cowboys had an underwhelming homestand in Greensboro. They finished 2-1, but scored just five rides.
The Cowboys have stayed in 3rd place for the last five events. Three events ago, after Thunder Days, the Cowboys were tied with the Stampede and Thunder at 11-6, but are now 14-9 and two games behind either team.
Despite their record, the Cowboys have struggled to score. They have scored 39-of-115 rides this season, which is the 3rd-fewest in the league.
The Cowboys have three riders inside the Top 25, but none inside the Top 10. Thiago Salgado and Guilherme Valleiras lead the team in 12th and 15th with 10 rides each. Every other team, besides the Florida Freedom, has at least one rider with 12 qualified rides.
But this is exactly how the Cowboys have operated to get to where they are. Carolina has scored exactly one ride in 10 games this season and split those games 5-5. In games where the Cowboys scored at least three, they’re a perfect 6-0.
Looming over all of this is Clay Guiton. The 2025 Teams Championship MVP has covered just 1-of-15 this season for a league-worst ride percentage of 6.67%. Injury concerns linger, but the Cowboys haven’t lost trust in him. Guiton will start Friday against the Austin Gamblers, who are a game behind Carolina. A loss would drop the Cowboys to 4th, but a score from Guiton could be the difference against the surging Gamblers and jumpstart a great finish to his season.
Rattler Days will be the Cowboys’ most important weekend yet, as how they finish in Fort Worth may determine their trajectory for the rest of the season.
Austin Gamblers:
The Austin Gamblers have scored 15-of-30 rides and gone 5-1 in their last six games. They hadn’t been above .500 until Anaheim, and they’re now three games above .500 at 13-10. The Gamblers sit in 4th place with a game separating them from 5th and 3rd. They’re three games behind 1st but within reach, thanks to their 54 total rides this season, which is 2nd-best in the league.
20 of those rides belong to the MVP race leader Jose Vitor Leme. He’s covered 17 of his last 18 bulls and leads 2nd-place Paulo Eduardo Rossetto by 95 points in the aggregate. He’s been nothing short of unstoppable this year, and if the season ended today, he’d have a Team Series record 86.96% ride percentage.
There’s a drop-off after him, though, until Dalton Kasel in 20th place. He’s covered 9-of-18, including four of his last six. After Kasel are No. 29 Sage Kimzey, No. 31 Kaique Pacheco, and No. 33 Dener Barbosa, all with seven rides on the season.
Kimzey dodged a potential injury after a scary wreck atop EmmDee in Game 1 last week. He’ll start Friday against the Carolina Cowboys.
It’s a crucial matchup for the Gamblers, as a win puts them in 3rd place and a loss gets them dangerously close to 5th.
It’ll be an even more crucial weekend for the team as they’ll need to keep their momentum alive to threaten 1st place.
Texas Rattlers:
Brady Fielder and Daniel Keeping have been nothing short of excellent this season, but the Rattlers haven’t been able to rely on anyone else. They sit in 5th place with a 12-11 record.
Fielder, who’s now 3rd in the MVP race, and Keeping, who’s in 11th, have combined for 26 of the team’s 42 rides.
Another seven come from João Ricardo Vieira, who’s in 32nd place. Vieira bucked off all three of his bulls last event.
No one else has covered more than two bulls for the Rattlers this season.
Their 42 rides place them in the middle of the pack, but the team has averaged a league-best 88.63 points per ride.
The Rattlers are top-heavy, and when they score at least two rides, they’re 11-2. In games where they score one or fewer rides, they’re 1-9.
That’s why their homestand couldn’t have come at a better time. Out of the six home stands teams have had this season, four teams finished 2-1, while two finished 1-2. No team has gone undefeated at home yet.
The Rattlers can start their weekend with a win against the Oklahoma Wildcatters, who have scored the fewest points in the league. The season record between the teams is tied 1-1, however.
Arizona Ridge Riders:
Things have gone from bad to worse for the Arizona Ridge Riders. They were once 7-4 and in 2nd place, but have since fallen to 10-13 in their last four events. They hit a new low in Greensboro after finishing 0-3 for the first time this season, scoring just three rides.
While most of their core-four have slid down the standings, Everton Natan da Silva has been their saving grace. He’s 5th in the MVP race with the 3rd-best ride percentage in the league at 68.42%. He’s ridden 13-of-19 so far, and seven of his last eight.
But while he’s taking steps forward, Eduardo Aparecido, Elizmar Jeremias, and Luciano De Castro have taken steps backward. Since August 21st, they’ve ridden a combined 7-28.
Things won’t get easier this weekend, as they’ll face the 1st-place Missouri Thunder on Friday.
Florida Freedom:
For the first time since Game 2 of Freedom Days back in early August, the Florida Freedom have 2x League MVP John Crimber healthy and active.*
They need him more than ever after they finished 0-3 with a league-worst two rides at Cowboy Days.
The Freedom went 4-12 in his absence, but are getting an energized Crimber who’s returning after finishing his first ProRodeo regular season with an unofficial NFR qualification.
Austin Richardson, Alex Cerqueira, and João Lucas Campos led the team in his absence. They’ve combined to ride 25-of-60 this season and have been the engine behind the Freedom’s 2nd-best average score of 88.55 points per ride.
Crimber had ridden 2-of-6 this season before getting injured, but is currently the Freedom’s 4th-highest-ranked rider.
Ethan Winckler, Bruno Carvalho, and Vinivius Rodrigues Pereira each have 2 rides themselves, but fewer aggregate points.
The Freedom released Carvalho this week after a 2-for-12 season. He has since signed with the Kansas City Outlaws to their reserve roster.
The Freedom are 9-14 in 7th place and still have the chance to end their season with a positive record with Crimber back. They’ll start their weekend with an excellent opportunity for Crimber to reinstate himself and earn a statement win over the 16-7 Nashville Stampede.
They’ve scored the 2nd-fewest rides in the league, though, at just 35. While things are looking up for the Freedom, they’re just one game away from falling to last place.
* Note: John Crimber will not compete in Rattler Days and will instead take time to recover from injuries suffered in Puyallup. However, he is expected back shortly.
Oklahoma Wildcatters:
The Oklahoma Wildcatters, like the Freedom, are also a game ahead of last place. They sit in 8th place with a 9-14 record and have the fewest rides in the league at 33.
They’re one of two teams with just one rider who has more than seven rides this season, being Eduardo Matos. Matos, who’s 8th in the MVP race, has been amazing for the Wildcatters, especially recently. He’s covered six of his last seven, and 12-of-23 overall.
Oklahoma’s next-best riders, Kaiden Loud and Kase Hitt, have combined for 12-of-32. The team’s other seven rides are split between four riders, none of whom have covered more than 25% of their outs.
The Wildcatters have lost five of their last six games and are on a fast track to last place unless they can find a late-season resurgence. They’ll start their weekend against the home-team Rattlers, whom the Wildcatters have already defeated once this year.
Kansas City Outlaws:
The Kansas City Outlaws had lost seven straight heading into Greensboro, but finished 2-1 and had their first positive weekend since Nashville.
They’re still tied with the last-place New York Mavericks at 8-15, though, and are only ahead by two rides in the aggregate.
Standout rookie Hayden Welsh returns to the team after finishing out his ProRodeo campaign and unofficially booking a ticket to the NFR in December, where he’ll ride against John Crimber.
Welsh hasn’t ridden for the Outlaws since Game 2 of Gambler Days, where he was 90.7 on Cramer for his first-ever Premier Series 90-point score. Welsh is 5-for-8 this season and has been the Outlaws’ most efficient rider, besides Sandro Batista.
Batista sits 6th in the MVP race and has ridden 13-of-23 so far. The team’s next three best, Eric Henrique Domingos, Kolton Hevalow, and Cassio Dias, have all had their moments this season, but haven’t been very efficient. The trio has covered a combined 18-of-51, a 35.29% ride percentage.
They begin their weekend with a battle against the New York Mavericks. Whoever loses will drop to last place, and whoever wins has the potential to jump to 7th.
Helping them will be Bruno Carvalho, who was released from the Freedom this week and signed to the Outlaws’ reserve roster.
New York Mavericks:
The New York Mavericks look like a different team than the one that began the season. The team had won just one game in their first four events. In their last four, they’ve won seven games, bringing their record to 8-15. They’re now one win away from matching last year’s win total.
Marco Rizzo is responsible for leading this team out of their rut. He’s covered eight bulls in their last 12 games and has climbed all the way to 9th in the MVP Race. Rizzo’s ridden 12-of-23 this season. He’s the only Maverick who’s ridden at least 50% of his bulls.
Mauricio Gulla Moreira has been the Mavericks’ 2nd-best rider, but has struggled recently. He’s scored just one ride in the last two events combined.
It’s been Bob Mitchell, who returned from injury in Anaheim, who has really lifted the team’s floor. Mitchell’s covered 3-of-5 since returning and improved to 41st in the MVP race as the team’s 3rd-highest-ranked rider.
The fact remains that the Mavericks are still in last place and are a struggling team. But they’ll get the perfect opportunity to escape 10th place for the first time this season when they face the Kansas City Outlaws on Friday. Both teams have identical records. A win for the Mavericks could even get them into 7th place after Friday’s games finish.
