In the last five years, no saddle bronc rider has put on a show like Brody Cress did Tuesday and Wednesday night in Dickies Arena.

The eight-tine NFR qualifier won both rounds and did so with rides of 90.5 and 89.5 points. The 90.5 coming in a Go-Round that featured four rides of 87 points or better.

“I have had a few back-to-back rides at bronc matches that have been close to, but I think this is my best back-to-back scores at rodeo,” he said. “It always feels awesome to know you are tuned up and ready to ride rank and make bank.”

On the opposite end of the arena, National Western champion Carlee Otero did not let her ground position in Round 2 stop her when she made a 16.19-second run, the fastest of the rodeo so far.

It came after she was 16.35 to win Round 1 by a whopping half-second. Otero’s $4,618 in her bracket is $1,000 more than any other barrel racer so far.

Cash Robb, who won the Average at his first NFR in 2024, was among a trio of bulldoggers who finished as the Top 3 back-to-back nights.

In Round 1, Robb was second to five-time NFR qualifier Stetson Jorgensen and National Western champion Gavin Soileau. In Round 2, it was Robb who was victorious when he stopped the clock at 4.2 seconds.

“It was great, there was a lot of good completion and I love it when you are put in a pressure situation,” Robb said.

QUICK DRAW

Cody Snow/Hunter Koch, the only 2024 NFR team from this set, advanced despite a 14.7-second run in Round 1. They responded with a second place finish in Round 2.

There were three saddle bronc rides of 86 points or better in the first two brackets. There were six in Bracket 3 alone.

For the second straight bracket, there were only three qualified rides in the bull riding
