Cody Stampede/Hailey Rae

There are no easy wins in Cody. As a one-header in every event, you’re never safe until the very last ride or run of the rodeo, as we saw this year. A handful of 90s, a few ties, and a long-awaited win headlined one of the highest paying rodeos of Cowboy Christmas.

In Cody, the roughstock events delivered a string of high-marked rides and tightly contested finishes.

Nick Pelke led the way in bareback riding with a 90-point ride on Frontier Rodeo’s Gun Fire, earning his biggest check since Fort Worth. It was his second win on Gun Fire in just over a month, he was 89.5 points on the same horse at the Will Rogers Stampede on May 26.

Brody Cress matched Pelke’s 90-point mark in the saddle bronc riding, doing it on another Frontier horse, Ed Bishop. Cress picked up the win before heading to Calgary, where he finished second in Pool A to secure a spot in Championship Sunday.

In bull riding, Jordan Spears edged out Trevor Reiste and Clayton Sellars with an 89-point ride, just a half-point better than their 88.5-point scores.

The timed events were equally sharp.

In barrel racing, Hailey Kinsel finally broke through in Cody after three runner-up finishes, taking the win with a 16.87-second run.

Tuf Cooper posted a 7.8-second run in tie-down roping to win by six-tenths of a second, while Clint Summers and Jade Corkill stopped the clock at 3.8 seconds in team roping as the last team out. Both Summers and Corkill are ranked No. 6 in the PRCA World Standings.

Steer wrestling saw a tie at the top between Bridger Anderson and Luke Gee, who each turned in 4.2-second runs and collected $6,909 apiece.

In breakaway roping, it was a three-way tie between Josie Conner, Bradi Good, and Suzanne Williams, all of whom stopped the clock at 2.4 seconds. In all, 12 cowgirls were 2.8 seconds or faster.

QUICK DRAW

Brody Cress has won seven Fourth of July rodeos since 2023.

Since 2021, Hailey Kinsel has won $37,746 at The Cody Stampede.

Tuf cooper delivered at the two highest paying Fourth of July rodeos, winning $14,824 between Cody and St. Paul.

After a 4.2 won the team roping in 2024, there were five times of 4.2 or faster in 2025.
