How Each Barrel Racer Advanced to the Semifinals of RodeoHouston

The highest earners in the barrel racing in RodeoHouston included the two most decorated barrel racers on the road today and the reigning champion.

Here is how things shook out in all five Super Series.

Super Series 1

Lisa Lockhart – $8,000: Lockhart got faster with each run, beginning with a second-place finish for a 14.60 in Round 1 and ending with a win in Round 3 with a 14.35, the fastest of the rodeo so far.

Paige Jones – $5,500: Jones won over half of her money from Super Series 1 when she edged Lockhart by one one-hundredth of a second in Round 1. She made three runs of 14.74 or faster. Jones finished third here last season.

Andrea Busby – $3,000: Busby finished third in Round 1 and second in Round 2 with a 14.43, the second fastest run of the rodeo so far. She made the Championship Round in Houston a year ago.

Michelle Alley – $2,750: Alley placed third or fourth in all three rounds and turned in a 14.53-second run in Round 3 to claim the final spot in the Semifinals.

Super Series 2

Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi – $6,250: Pozzi Tonozzi won the first two rounds with runs of 14.37 and 14.46 seconds. It’s the fastest stretch of two runs from any cowgirl in Houston.

Jamie Olsen – $6,000: Jamie Olsen was second in Round 1, third in Round 2 and first in Round 3 to make this the only Super Series of the entire rodeo that had two athletes win $6,000 or more.

Sissy Winn – $3,500: Winn finished third in Round 1 and second in Round 2 with runs of 14.69 and 14.53 seconds.

Tayla Moeykens – $2,750: Moeykens was fifth and sixth in the first two rounds before a 14.80 earned her $2,000 for second place in Round 3.

Super Series 3

Emily Beisel – $5,500: Beisel was fifth in Round 1 and then responded with a first place finish in Round 2 and a second place finish in Round 3.

Kassie Mowry, $5,000: Mowry placed in two rounds with a 14.78 for second in Round 1 and a 14.69 to win Round 2.

Abby Phillips, $3,750: Phillips won Round 1 with a 14.71-second run.

Jordon Briggs – $2,500: The two-time RodeoHouston Champion finished fourth in Round 1 and third in Round 2 to advance.

Super Series 4

Summer Kosel – $6,000: Kosel won Rounds 2 and 3 with times of 14.86 and 14.50 seconds.

Halyn Lide – $4,000: Lide place in all three rounds, including two second place finishes. She tied Acey Pinkston in Round 1 and was the outright runner up in Round 3 with a 14.71-second run.

Megan McLeod-Sprague – $3,750: The San Antonio Champion advanced in another Texas Swing Rodeo much thanks to a 14.54 to win Round 2.

Acey Pinkston – $3,000: In addition to that second place split with Lide, Pinkston was fourth in Rounds 2 and 3.

Super Series 5

Leslie Smalygo – $8,000: The reigning champion of RodeoHouston matched the mark as the highest earning barrel racer so far thanks to two round wins and a second place finish.

Hailey Kinsel – $3,750: Kinsel turned in a 14.68 to win Round 3 and secure her spot in the Semifinals.

Julie Plourde – $3,000: Plourde finished third in Round 1 and second in Round 2.

Sadie Troyer – $2,250: Troyer won most of her Super Series money for a second place finish in Round 1.
