A stretch of three PRCA Playoff Rodeos in four weeks across California came to an end, while Rodeo Killeen delivered scores and times that have been unmatched over the past decade. Meanwhile, bronc riders enjoyed several big-money opportunities as the ProRodeo season inches closer to the Summer Run.

Dawson Hay wins Miles City Xtreme Broncs for second straight year. The No. 2 bronc rider in the World is now within $17,000 of Ryder Wright after earning over $18,000 in Miles City. He swept the competition with 89 points on Calico Color in the Long Round and 90 on Gronk in the Short Round. The win was reminiscent of 2024 when Hay also swept the competition by riding for 90.5 on both of his horses. Since April 24,  he has six straight rides of 86 points or better.

Bull rider Cooper James gets the biggest win of his season in Redding. The 2024 Bull Riding Rookie of the Year continued to show signs of life over the weekend by riding Slingster for 87.5 points to get a W at a Playoff Series Rodeo out in California. The win paid him $6,500 and proved how much one good ride can change a cowboy’s fortunes in the bull riding. James went from No. 40 to No. 28 in the PRCA World Standings. He has been heating up going into the summer as he is 4-for-8 with three Go-Round Wins since April 26.

Cory Solomon made his fastest run in over a year to win Rodeo Killeen. Solomon’s 7.1-second run broke a streak of five straight no times as Solomon won the Texas rodeo by four tenths over Marcos Costa. Five tie-down ropers were in the 7s and the tie-down roping in 2025 was one of the fastest this rodeo has ever seen. The winning times the last two years in Killeen were 8.4 seconds in 2024 and 9.4 in 2023.

Saddle bronc rider Damian Brennan bests a host of NFR qualifiers with 88 points in Redding. Brennan jumped out to an early lead on Bridwell’s No Tail Del and it held up the entire weekend to deliver him his first win since February in Rapid City. In Redding, Kole Ashbacher, Brody Cress, Zac Dallas, Dawson Hay, and Brody Wells tied for second.

Steer wrestler Dakota Eldridge gets another Playoff Series win in the California Run. The 11-time NFR qualifier bookended his monthlong stretch of competition in California by winning two of the three Playoff Series Rodeos held there in April and May. He was 21.9 seconds on four to win Red Bluff and last weekend he added Redding as his second victory of 2025 with 11.0 seconds on two.

Canyon Bass rides for 91 on just his second qualified ride of the season to win Rodeo Killeen. The 21-year-old got his season started on March 1 and is 2-for-13 overall, but ride No. 2 on the year happened to be the biggest of his career. It was Bass’ first 90+ Point Ride and it came aboard Andrew Rodeo’s Row Tag. He is the only one to go 90 in Killeen in the last decade. Bass had previously been 89.5 at the 2023 Silver State Stampede for a career high.

Saddle bronc rider Gus Gaillard totaled $13,607 across three rodeos over the weekend. A majority of that money came from taking second in both rounds in Miles City with rides of 88 and 88.5 points, but he also finished third in Santa Rosa and eighth in Killeen. The 22-year-old got on the right side of the Top 15 for his work as well, moving from No. 18 to No. 14.

World No. 1 Bradlee Miller wins bareback riding at Advantage Dirt Bares and Broncs. Miller extended his lead in the World Standings to $42,000 over No. 2 and $85,000 over No. 15 with an 86-point ride in Ellensburg. It was his eighth win of the season. Garrett Shadbolt, who moved up three spots from No. 7 to No. 4 over the weekend, took second.
