NFR Round 5 Recap: Rocker Wins Again and Saddle Bronc Riding and Tie-Down Roping See Shakeups

Published On: December 9, 2025Categories: Event Summaries/Results, Featured

In Round 5, Rocker Steiner started things off with another bang in the bareback riding, winning the round with a 89-point ride as the last cowboy out.

It was his second Go-Round win of the rodeo and he remains more than $100,000 clear of the next closest cowboy.

In steer wrestling, Scott Guethner took his dominance from the Canadian Finals Rodeo into the NFR with a 3.4, the fastest run of the rodeo.

In the World Title race, Will Lummus made a 3.7-second run for a third place check and remains No. 1 in the World. He is, however, still trailing Tucker Allen in the Projected World Standings.

In team roping, Kolton Schmidt/Jonathan Torres were 3.7 to get their second Go-Round win of the NFR, while Tomlinson/Graves and Summers/Corkill were 3.8 and 3.9 to keep pace in the World Title race.

In saddle bronc riding, Damian Brennan went 90 to win his second Go-Round in the last three nights. The Projected World Standings got all shook up on Monday because Ryder Wright missed his horse out and Stetson Wright and Zeke Thurston both got checks.

Now, because he leads the Average, Stetson is the Projected World Champion, putting the triple crown very much in play.

Tie-down roping was another race that looks a little different on Tuesday than it did Monday. Shad Mayfield had a no time, which sent him tumbling from No. 1 to 10 in the Average. Riley Webb was 11.3, but still ranks third in the Average, which could prove to be the difference for a third Gold Buckle.

It has been a tail of two NFRs for barrel racer Carlee Otero. Through five rounds, she has either hit the first barrel or won the Go-Round. Monday night was the ladder as she raced to a 13.43-second time to win Round 5.

In bull riding, Round 5 winner JR Stratford has suddenly become a factor after finishing in the Top 3 each of the last three rounds. He leads the Average and is one bull up on Stetson Wright, who bucked off for the second night in a row on Monday.

Ky Hamilton also helped himself in the bull riding with an 88.75-point ride for third. That moved him within $70,000 of Stetson Wright and perhaps more crucially, pushed him to 4-for-5 as well.
