The Team Series standings are now closer than ever after a wild Cowboy Days that saw the New York Mavericks champion the weekend.

All ten teams left Greensboro in the same spot they entered, but with a brand new record.

Two games are all that separate 10th from 6th, while the Thunder and Stampede remain deadlocked at the top of the standings.

Cowboy Days was the PBR’s last stop before October’s final four-event stretch leading up to the World Finals; here’s what you missed:

New York Mavericks:

The Mavericks finished 3-0 for the first time in the last two seasons.

They’re still in last place, but are now tied with the Kansas City Outlaws at 8-15 and are just 196.45 points behind them.

Marco Rizzo scored in all three games, peaking with an 89.75-point ride on Cookie in Game 3. It’s the third time this season he’s finished an event without bucking off.

Rizzo saved the day for the Mavericks in Games 1 and 2. He was the only rider to score in Game 1 against the Freedom, and walked it off against Arizona in Game 2.

Rizzo has now ridden his last four in a row and has shot up to 9th in the MVP race. It’s the first time this season a Maverick has entered the top-10.

Mauricio Gulla Moreira, Bob Mitchell, and Afonso Quintino also added rides of their own in Greensboro, bringing the team’s ride total to six for the weekend. They’re now one of four teams to have scored at least five rides in each of their last four games, joining the Stampede, Thunder, and Gamblers.

The Mavericks are now two wins away from 6th place, and one win away from tying last season’s total of nine.

Missouri Thunder:

The Thunder were less than two points short of leaving Greensboro undefeated, but finished 2-1 instead.

They began their weekend with a hard-fought win over the Gamblers in Game 1, and ended with a crushing victory over the Freedom. But in Game 2, the Thunder scored 261.85 points and lost by 1.9 points to the Wildcatters.

Regardless, the Thunder are still in 1st place and grew their lead over the Stampede. Missouri and Nashville are still tied atop the standings at 16-7 each, but the Thunder grew their point lead over them from 93 to 356.35.

The Thunder scored 9-of-15 rides in Greensboro, making it the fifth straight event they’ve scored at least eight rides.

Four Thunder Riders scored twice, including Paulo Eduardo Rossetto, who snapped his historic ride streak in Game 3, bucking off EmmDee.

Rossetto grew his streak to 15 in a row, the longest ride streak in Team Series history and the third-longest in Premier Series history.

That miss puts Rossetto at 19-for-23 on the season, and he’s now once again a ride behind Jose Vitor Leme in the MVP race.

Julio Cesar Marques was also 2-for-3 and scored in both of the Thunder’s wins. Cesar Marques is now 10th in the MVP race, riding 12-of-23 this season.

Mavericks Smith was 2-of-2, scoring 88.1 and 88.2 in Games 1 and 2. He had the highest scores of any Thunder Rider in those games. Smith is now 6-of-13 this season and in 34th place.

Macaulie Leather scored 2-of-3, including a team-high 88.75 on Fringe Minority in Game 3. He’s now in 25th place and has covered 7-of-15.

While the Thunder would have liked to get a full game ahead of the Stampede, they did an excellent job in growing their ride total to a league-best 57, four rides ahead of Nashville.

Kansas City Outlaws:

The Outlaws had their best event since Stampede Days, finishing 2-1 and avoiding last place.

In Game 1, they scored an event-high 351.15 and defeated the Arizona Ridge Riders. They could only score one in Game 2 and lost, but bounced back with a three-ride win in Game 3 against Oklahoma.

Eric Henrique Domingos led the team, covering all three of his bulls, and improved to 7-of-17 on the season. Domingos had missed his seven in a row before covering his last four. He was 88+ in all three of his rides at Cowboy Days and was a season-high 89.5 on Without Warning in Game 1.

Sandro Batista and Boston Leather were each 2-for-3. Batista has covered 13-of-23 this season and is 6th in the MVP race. Leather hadn’t ridden in the Team Series since last season and had only one out in his Teams Career coming into Cowboy Days. However, he covered 2-of-3 this weekend, earning his first and second rides of his Teams Career.

Koltin Hevalow finished 1-for-3, scoring 87.45 on Velvet Revolver in Game 1. It was his first score since September 4th.

Despite the Outlaws’ positive weekend, they’re now tied with the Mavericks at 8-15 and are just two rides ahead of the Mavericks in the standings.

The Outlaws will need to replicate their Cowboy Days performance more consistently if they want to keep from falling into last place.

Austin Gamblers:

The Gamblers had their third straight positive weekend and are now three games above .500 at 13-10. They finished 2-1 in Greensboro and have a 7-2 record across their last three events.

The Gamblers ended their weekend with an impressive win against the Nashville Stampede and denied them 1st place in the standings. Jose Vitor Leme and Dalton Kasel combined for 176.95 points, edging out Nashville by 2.1 points.

Leme had his fifth 3-for-3 event finish of the season and has covered 17 of his last 18. He once again got a ride ahead of Paulo Eduardo Rossetto in the MVP race, and leads the league with 1770.3 points.

Kasel covered 2-of-3 and has ridden four of his last six bulls. Kasel is now 20th in the MVP race and has covered 9-of-18 this season. He overtook Sage Kimzey as the 2nd-best Gambler, who was injured in Game 1 and did not return.

Dener Barbosa and Kaique Pacheco were the only other Gamblers to score, both doing so in the team’s Game 2 win.

While the potential extended loss of Kimzey hurts, the Gamblers can keep rolling as long as Leme rides like the MVP.

Nashville Stampede:

The Stampede finished 2-1 and are tied 16-7 with the Missouri Thunder, but remain in 2nd place. The Stampede rode 6-for-15 and fell from the 2nd-most rides in the league to the 3rd-most with 53 total.

They’re now four rides behind the Thunder, despite entering the weekend a ride behind.

Riquelmi Silva, who was once 3rd in the MVP race, had his second straight 0-for-3 weekend. He’s now 14th and has covered just one of his last eight bulls.

Alan de Souza, though, was a perfect 3-for-3 and is now 4th in the MVP race with 13-of-23 ridden this season.

De Souza was the only Stampede Rider to score in Game 1, but he’s all they needed. De Souza was 87.6 on Big Iron, which beat out the Rattlers’ lone 86-point score.

Gustavo Luiz da Silva, Rogério Venâncio, and Daniel Feitosa each covered 1-for-3 of their bulls. It was Feitosa’s 10th ride of the season, making the Stampede the only team with four riders with double-digit rides.

Da Silva isn’t far behind, either. He’s in 22nd place and has covered 8-of-18 so far.

The Stampede aren’t as polished as they were earlier this season, but remain an elite contender.

Carolina Cowboys:

The Cowboys finished 2-1 for the sixth time this season, but couldn’t gain any ground on the Stampede or Thunder. They’re still in 3rd place, with a 14-9 record, but have the 3rd-fewest rides in the league at 39.

They scored five rides in their homestand, and two of them belong to Adriano Salgado. Salgado was 2-for-3, including a walk-off 88.7-point score on UB Smooth in Game 3.

He’s now 23rd in the MVP race and has covered 8-of-14 this season.

The two teammates ahead of him, Guilherme Valleiras and Thiago Salgado, each scored once last weekend, as did Ethan Skogquist, who, in his first career Premier Series ride, covered Night Shift for 86.4 points.

Skogquist filled in for Keyshawn Whitehorse, who was placed on IR after suffering a shoulder injury in Anaheim.

Clay Guiton started all three games for the first time since Gambler Days but failed to score. He’s now 1-for-15 this season with the worst riding percentage in the league at 6.67%.

It wasn’t pretty, but the Cowboys escaped another weekend with an improved record.

Oklahoma Wildcatters:

The Wildcatters finished 1-2 but scored more points and rides than at any previous event this season. They scored six rides for the first time this season, worth 527.75 points.

Eduardo Matos and Winy dos Santos combined to ride 5-for-5 of their bulls, with Matos scoring three.

Dos Santos was 2-of-14 entering Cowboy Days and left with his season ride total doubled. He was a season-high 89.05 on There’s Your Sign in Game 3.

Matos had his first perfect event of the season and has now covered six of his last seven bulls. He also entered the top 10 for the first time this season in 8th. He’s the first Wildcatter to be in the top 10 since Kaiden Loud was after the first event.

Loud was 1-for-3 at Cowboy Days, but is 1-for-6 in his past two events, which dropped him to 26th place in the MVP race.

The Wildcatters are still in 8th and are within a game of both 6th place and last place.

Texas Rattlers:

The Rattlers finished 1-2 for the second straight event, and it’s the first time they’ve finished consecutive events with a negative record.

Only Brady Fielder and Daniel Keeping scored, and they combined for four rides.

Fielder scored three of the team’s four rides and was 89 twice, improving to 15-for-23 on the season. Fielder is now two rides ahead of 4th-place, but four rides behind 2nd in the MVP race.

Keeping was 1-for-3, but scored a season-high 91.5 points on Geralt in their Game 2 win over the Freedom.

Lucas Divino suffered a nasal bone fracture in Game 1, which kept him out of the rest of the event. He’s expected to return at Rattler Days, in front of the home crowd.

The Rattlers remain in 5th place with a 12-11 record and a two-game lead over 6th place. The Rattlers remain too top-heavy, and until that changes, they’re in for a grueling rest of the season.

Arizona Ridge Riders:

It might be time for the Ridge Riders to sound the alarm.

They finished Cowboy Days 0-3 for the first time this season and have a 3-9 record across their last four events.

Before their slide, Arizona was in 2nd place, two games behind 1st. Now, they’re 10-13 and in 6th, two games ahead of dead last.

They scored a season-low three rides, spread between Eduardo Aparecido and Everton Natan da Silva. Da Silva scored 2-of-3, while Aparecido was 1-for-3; no other Ridge Rider scored.

Da Silva has ridden eight of his last nine and is now 5th in the MVP race. He’s been the only Ridge Rider on a roll recently.

Elizmar Jeremias and Lucinao De Castro combined to ride 0-for-5 of their bulls in Greensboro. De Castro has bucked off his last four consecutive bulls, while Jeremias has bucked off his last nine.

The Ridge Riders are stuck in a rut that will prove difficult to recover from.

Florida Freedom:

The Freedom suffered their third 0-3 finish of the last five events and had their worst performance of the season yet.

The Freedom scored just two rides, tying the season-low set by the Wildcatters in Anaheim, for 175.5 points.

They went scoreless in Game 1 and Game 3, and lost Game 2 to the Texas Rattlers by 5.0 points. João Lucas Campos and Vinicius Rodrigues Pereira scored for the Freedom in that game. Lucas Campos was 89.4 and broke his five-ride buckoff streak. Rodrigues Pereira was 86.1 for his second ride of the season.

The Freedom are now 9-14, in 7th place, and are just a loss away from 10th. However, John Crimber is expected to return at Rattler Days, which will inject some life into their struggling squad.
