PBR New York Recap: Sage Kimzey’s Perfect Weekend, Another New No. 1 and More

Madison Square Garden lived up to its reputation throughout the weekend. Ninety point rides lit up the Short Round, the bulls matched the moment, and Sage Kimzey delivered the kind of performance the World’s Most Famous Arena demands, finishing a perfect weekend by slamming the door when it mattered most.
Sage Kimzey Wins With Perfect 4-for-4 Performance
Sage Kimzey completed a whirlwind weekend in New York City with a career best 92.05 points on Lights Out in the Short Round to cap a thrilling 4-for-4 showing in New York City. It was the highest score of the 2025-2026 season.
His Event Aggregate total was 350.80 and he earned 182 Event Points to move to No. 3 in the UTB Standings. He had earned 35 points in the first three events of the season combined and had just three qualified rides prior to this past weekend.
“My goodness, just looking at this buckle, world’s most famous arena, best sports fans in the entire world here in New York, it’s awesome,” he said. “The way this city just opened up its arms and made (my family and I) feel so appreciated, y’all really are the best.”
It was his third career UTB win.
Julio Cesar Marques Takes Over No. 1 Spot
For the second straight week, the event runner up is the new No. 1 man in the UTB Standings.
Marques entered Sunday 2-for-2 and responded to a buck off on Big Dawg in Round 3 with 91.10 atop UTZ BesTex Smokestack. He briefly held the event lead by 0.1 points over Clay Guiton until Kimzey’s massive ride to close down the show. He finished 3-for-4 with 265.65 as his Aggregate Score.
Marques earned 112 Event Points and has been to the Short Round in all three of his UTB appearances. He was also second in Manchester.
By bringing his point total to 236 over the weekend, he leads Marco Rizzo by 12.5 and Kimzey by 19. They are the only three bull riders with over 200 Event Points on the year.
Callum Miller Goes 3-for-4 With Jaw Wired Shut
The Aussie finished fourth in the event, but had perhaps the most impressive showing from start to finish.
Three weeks after fracturing his jaw in Chicago, he returned after missing just one event to go 3-for-4 and finish fourth in New York. All with his jaw wired shut.
His 74 Event Points are the most he has earned on UTB since February of 2024.
“I just try not ride bulls with my jaw, because that didn’t work too well for me in Chicago,” he said Saturday.
McFadden, Lockwood Crack Short Round in Season Debuts
A pair of fan favorites were back on Tour this weekend and both impressed in their season debuts.
Cort McFadden is No. 17 in the UTB Standings after just one event. He was one of eight bull riders to go 3-for-4 and finished sixth overall with an Aggregate Score of 264.70. He got better each round. After bucking off in Round 1, he was 86.45, 87.00, and 89.00 on his last three in MSG. He and Kimzey were the only ones to make three qualified rides worth at least 86 points.
As for Lockwood, he only rode one bull, but it was a big one, 89.35 points on Rockville to win Round 3. It was his biggest score in a UTB event since Jan. 22, 2023. With 28 Event Points from that round win, Lockwood immediately finds himself in the Top 30.
The World’s Most Famous Arena Sees Thrilling Short Round
Seven total rides told the story. Every one of them was 89 points or better, and five cracked the 90-point mark, Sage Kimzey (92.05), Julio Cesar Marques (91.10), Clay Guiton (91.10), Leandro Zampollo (90.85), and Afonso Quintino (90.05).
It’s the most qualified rides in a Short Round this season, topping the previous best of five in Chicago and Manchester.
Through the first three events, only two Short Round rides across 36 total reached the 90-point mark, making that run even more impressive.
The bulls matched the moment as well, with every animal marked 43 or better and an average bull score of 44.07. Add in five separate lead changes and a walk-off winner, and the fans inside Madison Square were treated from start-to-finish on Sunday.
