In both 2023 and 2024, Riley Webb found himself just needing a clean run in Round 10 to win the World Title.

In 2025, it was even easier for him as Shad Mayfield missed in Round 10, allowing Webb to win his third straight Gold Buckle no matter what he did.

That allowed him to enjoy this one a little more. He was 7.7 in Round 10, by the way.

“We knew kind of what needed to happen, I knew after Shad missed, it was done no matter what I did. So, (Josie Conner’s dad) came up to me and said ‘congratulations, World Champ,’ so it was a sigh of relief and I could just got have fun and do my job,” he said.

Each of Webb’s three Gold Buckles has been by a fairly healthy margin.

In 2023, he finished second the in the Average and won by about $41,000 despite Haven Meged’s record setting 77.4 seconds on 10. Webb took control of the race that year with three straight runs between 6.9 and 7.4 seconds in Rounds 3-5.

In 2024, he entered No. 4, but quickly drew even with No. 1 Shad Mayfield, who had broken his regular season earnings record. Webb blitzed the rest of the field with three Go-Rounds and a second place finish in the first four rounds. At that point, he had erased a $70,000 deficit to Mayfield and never looked back. He ended up winning the Gold Buckle by about $78,000.

This year, it briefly looked like Mayfield would flip the script on Webb. Mayfield won the first two rounds to draw even with Webb, who entered the 2025 NFR with a lead of about $50,000. Webb had the answer, however. He won Round 3 with a 7 flat run and held the lead for the next six rounds, placing in seven total at the 2025 NFR. He ended up more than $150,000 ahead of Mayfield who finished as the Reserve World Champion for the second straight year.

“I heard someone say I’ve averaged 8.1 seconds over the last 30 runs here, so that’s really cool,” Webb said.

In the end, Webb finished with $555,544, breaking his own single season earnings record for the second straight year. Webb now owns the three winningest PRCA tie-down roping seasons of all time and also reclaimed his regular season earnings record n the process.

The 22-year-old is the first to win three straight Tie-Down Roping World Titles since Roy Cooper.

“I don’t think I’m done, we’ll keep it going,” he said. “We got Denver here in a couple of weeks to start 2026.”

A record six tie-down ropers won over $300,000 this year.
