San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Semifinal 1 Recap: Star Power Shines Through as Rocker Steiner and Stetson Wright Get Go-Round Wins

The checks were worth more the competition intensified and the Short Round is well within sight after the conclusion of Semifinal 1 in San Antonio.

Rocker Steiner picked up his third round win so far in San Antonio. He was 88 on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Chrome Molly to win the First Semifinal, which added $5,504 to the 2025 World Champion’s San Antonio earnings. That puts him in the driver’s seat going into the Short Round with $12,935 total.

Bradlee Miller and Wacey Schalla tied with 87.5 points each and they both earned $3,853 and a spot in Saturday’s Finals. Jacob Lees was 85 to snag the final qualifying spot.

Clay Hurt was 3.8 to win the steer wrestling, he’s earned $9,357 and won two rounds in San Antonio thus far.

Right behind Hurt, was 2025 Reserve World Champion Will Lummus with a 3.9-second run to grow his event purse to $11,284. J.D. Struxness and Colin Fox rounded out the remaining qualifiers.

Cyle Denison/Lane Mitchell were 4 seconds in their round-winning run in the team roping and they’ve collected $9,082 each so far.

Bubba Buckaloo and partner Joseph Harrison tied with Kellan Johnson and Trent Vaught as each duo posting 4.5-second runs. Cody Carter and Will Woodfin were the final pair to advance, going 4.6 and adding $2,202 to their event purses.

In saddle bronc riding, Stetson Wright continued his dominant start to 2026. He was 89.5 on Calgary Stampede’s Forgetful Nelly to win his sixth Go-Round of the year. It was also his fifth 89+ point ride on the season and this one earned him $5,504 to bringing his San Antonio earnings to $11,008. Wright has covered every single bronc he’s gotten on in 2026.

Layton Green was 86.5 on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Small Town Scandal for $4,403 and a trip to the Semifinals while Damian Brennan (84), Will Pollock (83), and Kolby Wanchuk (83) also moved on.

In tie-down roping, Ty Harris picked up his fourth straight round win in San Antonio with a 7.2-second run. He’s grossed the largest purse of any athlete so far in San Antonio with $13,485.

Cole Clemons and Chantz Webster advanced; each went 7.7 seconds for $3,853 apiece and Tom Crouse was the final athlete to qualify. He went 8.1 for $2,202

Only 0.03 seconds separated the round winner, Carlee Otero, and third place qualifier Jordan Driver in the barrel racing Otero was 14.16 for a $5,504 check. Driver was close, but posted a 14.19-second run for $3,302.

In between was Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, who advanced with a 14.18-second out and added $4,403, bringing her event total to $10,457.

Kathy Grimes was the final barrel to advance, and she wasn’t far behind either, posting a 14.24-second run.

Bull rider Cullen Telfer notched his first round win of 2026, going 88 on Pickett Pro Rodeo Company’s Justified. He earned $5,504 on his way to the Short Round in his first visit to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

Tristen Hutchings qualified with an 86-point ride atop Pickett Pro Rodeo Co.’s Boot Barn’s Blue. He’s earned $11,650 so far. T Parker was 82.5 for a qualification and a $3,302 check.

In breakaway roping, Rylee George collected her fourth check of the event with her 2.0-second round-winning run. It brings her event purse to $11,650.

Jessi Everett was 2.4 to advance. Sawyer Gilbert was right behind with a 2.5. Jill Tanner finalized the qualifying group with a 2.7-second out.
