The 2025 PRCA Team Roping race is shaping up to be one of the closest and most chaotic title chases in rodeo history. With just two weeks left in the regular season, the standings are razor-thin: only $21,000 separates No. 1 through No. 7 on the head side, and $31,000 on the heel side. Even down to 15th, the spread is less than $61,000, an unprecedented level of parity.

Right now, Derrick Begay and Colter Todd are clinging to the top spot with $163,850 each, but their season has been a rollercoaster of lead changes. Hot on their heels is a stacked field featuring world champions and proven veterans like Tanner Tomlinson, Clay Smith, Kaleb Driggers, Clint Summers, Jade Corkill, Travis Graves, Junior Nogueira, Wesley Thorp, and more. Together, these contenders bring multiple gold buckles, NFR average titles, and over 100 combined Finals appearances.

To add to the drama, none of the top seven headers and heelers share matching rankings, except Begay and Todd, opening the door for split World Champions for the first time since 2019. With legends, comeback stories, and new powerhouse teams all in the mix, this race could define a new era in team roping.
