Three riders too young to buy a beer stole the show Thursday night at the PBR World Finals – Eliminations, each posting 88-point rides to split the Round 1 win.
Kaiden Loud, Hudson Bolton, and John Crimber rose above a field where four of the Top 5 in the World Standings failed the convert.
Three Young Guns Take Top Spots in Round 1
There were three 88-point rides that won a piece of Round 1 of the PBR World Finals – Eliminations and none of them were made by a cowboy who can legally drink.
First, Kaiden Loud jumped from No. 20 to No. 14 in the UTB Standings aboard Woody. Then, 19-year-old rookie Hudson Bolton went the distance on July to move to No. 2 in the PBR Rookie Race. And finally, John Crimber tied his good friends as the third-to-last rider in Cowtown Coliseum to cut into World No. 1 Dalton Kasel’s lead.
Loud and Crimber finished 1-2 in last year’s Eliminations Round.
“I’m just going to go bull for bull, day for day, and let ‘em hang every single time,” Crimber said.
As for Bolton, his 88-point ride was his first career World Finals out.
“It was definitely nerve-racking at first, but I just slowed my breathing down and just kind of calmed my nerves and went to the same basics that I always do,” he said. “Just deep breaths, slow my breathing down.”
Bolton is battling for Rookie of the Year with Anderson de Oliveira and Elizmar Jeremias, who both bucked off.
Four of Top 5 Bull Riders Buck Off
World No. 4 Sage Kimzey told Matt West before his ride that pressure causes some to break and others to break records and it turned out Crimber was the only one ranked in the Top 5 to handle said pressure in Cowtown Coliseum Thursday night.
Kimzey bucked off at 7.93 seconds while Good Riddance and Lap Dancer made quick work of World No. 1 Dalton Kasel and World No. 2 Brady Fielder respectively. Both riders were bucked off in less than three seconds.
Meanwhile, Luciano De Castro lasted 5.81 seconds on Kitty.
All told, it allowed Crimber to move within 423 points of Kasel after finishing as the runner-up as a rookie a year ago. The Top 5, however, remains unchanged.
Quick Draw
Only 10-of-45 bull riders made the whistle on Thursday, but nine of them who did were marked 85 points or better.
Two-time PBR World Champion Jose Vitor Leme covered his first bull of the 2025 World Finals after going 0-for-4 in 2024.
Dating back to last year, Kaiden Loud is 4-for-5 with two round wins in PBR World Finals – Eliminations. All four rides have been 86.75 or better.
