The same weekend the Texas Swing concluded, Red Bluff kicked off a run of three Playoff Series Rodeos in California over the next three weeks. The trip west was worthwhile as every rodeo winner banked at least $6,000.

In bareback riding, Jayco Roper picked up his third win in the Golden State since the start of 2024. He marked 90 points for the second time this season, this one coming on Rosser Rodeo’s Right On Q. Roper earned 47 of those points on the rider score, his highest mark of the 2025 season.

Dakota Eldridge took home the steer wrestling title after winning the Finals by seven-tenths of a second with the rodeo’s fastest run, a 4.1. His four-head total of 21.9 seconds earned him the win, though not the biggest payday. Eldridge collected $6,313, while Landon Beardsworth and Eli Lord, who finished second and third, took home $7,780 and $6,519, respectively.

After their team roping victory in Red Bluff, brothers Riley and Brady Minor now find themselves in the Top 25 in the PRCA World Standings as they try to get back to their first NFR since 2022. They finished 11th in Round 1 and 15th in Round 2 before rallying to get the win with a 7.1-second run for third in Round 3 and a 7.7 for fourth in the Finals. They were the only pair to make four straight runs of 8 flat or faster and won the Average by 1.4 seconds.

Saddle bronc rider Brody Wells claimed his second Playoff Series win of the year, riding for 88 points in the Final Performance to edge out Lefty Holman’s 87. The $7,840 payout was his biggest of the season by nearly $3,000.

In tie-down roping, Chase Webster placed in three of four rounds and won the Semifinals with a 9.5-second run to edge Tom Crouse by three-tenths. His total of 40.3 seconds on four head earned him the win, his first career Playoff Series victory at just 21-years-old.

In barrel racing, Latricia Duke nearly doubled her season earnings by placing second in both rounds to cruise to a win in the Average by more than two-tenths of a second.

In the bull riding, World No. 1 Wacey Schalla rode Big Stone’s Cherry Bomb for 91 points in the First Performance, a score that held up through the weekend to give him his fifth win of the season and his second outside the state of Texas.

QUICK DRAW

Since the beginning of RodeoHouston, Wacey Schalla is 11-of-16 with four rides of 90+ Points and three event wins.

It is the third straight year the bareback riding winner was 90 points or more. R.C. Landingham was 92.5 in 2024 and Donny Proffit was 90 in 2023.

There were four bull riders better than 87 points in 2025, which was the winning score in 2024.
