It is safe to say it feels like summer in ProRodeo. Leading into an upcoming week that includes Reno and the Snake River Stampede, there were three Playoff Series Rodeos held from June 11-15 and they featured top-notch performances from several of the PRCA’s biggest stars.

Kade Bruno went big in an event where 90 became the norm, Shad Mayfield got a pair of wins, Ryder Wright won four checks and got a W in his home state, and Rocker Steiner repeated at a Playoff Rodeo in Oklahoma.

All that and much, much more as we strap in for a fun next three months.

Kade Bruno rides Shady Jacket for 93 in Short Round to sweep Jordan Xtreme Bronc Match. It was deep saddle bronc riding field in Jordan on Sunday night and Bruno bested all of them twice. First, he was 88.5 on J Bar J’s Hell on Hooves to win the Long Round before going for his 93 in the Short Round, which was one of six 90+ Point Rides in a Finals that included Ryder Wright, Weston Patterson, Gus Gaillard, Zac Dallas, Sage Newman, and Statler Wright. Bruno, the No. 3 ranked bronc rider in the World, earned a well-deserved $12,366.

No. 2 tie-down roper Shad Mayfield wins a pair of rodeos and over $9,000 on the weekend. Mayfield is now within $17,000 of World No. 1 Riley Webb thanks to victories at the Parker County Sheriffs Posse Rodeo and the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo. He and Webb are the only two tie-down ropers over $100,000 on the season. Mayfield already has three wins in June after just one in March, April and May.

No. 1 saddle bronc rider Ryder Wright backs up ranking with win at Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo. As part of a massive weekend, Wright went 90 on Big Handful of Powder River in Vernal to win $5,795 of the $14,430 in total he won. He also was second at the Eagle Rodeo (Idaho) and Ute Mountain Round-Up (Colorado) with 86.5 points apiece there and third in the Long Round at the Jordan Xtreme Bronc Match (Montana).

Rocker Steiner wins Woodward and places in two others to cross $100,000 mark. Steiner made three straight rides of 83 points or better over the weekend and two of them were 87 or better. Those two, in Woodward and Sisters, both paid more than $2,900. Steiner is No. 2 in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings at $102,494 on the season.

Hailey Kinsel gets first win of season at Woodward Elks Rodeo. Kinsel was 16.92 there and finished as one of two barrel racers faster than 17 seconds to get the win and the $3,728 payday that came with it. The four-time World Champion also won $4,039 for a 16.97 at the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo that put her third.

Wacey Schalla won two rodeos in the bareback riding over the weekend.  Just when it looked like Stetson Wright might start to pull away again the All-Around, Schalla, the No. 1 bull rider in the World, had a massive weekend in the bareback riding. The 19-year-old jumped 10 spots to No. 28 thanks to a pair of Playoff Series wins in Sisters and Vernal, which both paid about $6,000. It was his first bareback riding win(s) since March 15.

No. 2 steer wrestler Jesse Brown wins Livermore Rodeo to continue to chip away at Tucker Allen’s lead. Jesse Brown has been the second-ranked bulldogger behind Allen, the RodeoHouston Champion, for several months and over the last four weeks things have finally gotten closer. Since May 15, Brown has gone from $43,000 back to $37,000 back in the PRCA Steer Wrestling World Standings. Allen, however, still has the largest lead of any timed event athlete in the PRCA.
