Bracket 2 in Fort Worth brought us another dominant performance from the bulls, another barrel racing sweep, and another top tie-down roper taking home first.

All of that, plus a young bareback rider making waves in Fort Worth again, and a World Champion following it up with another noteworthy performance in Cowtown.

Bull Riding

The Rafter G Rodeo Bulls dominated Bracket 2, allowing only a single qualified ride through both rounds.

Trey Kimzey was the only one who made the whistle, doing so for 80 points on BabyBooey to take home $7,400 from Round 2.

Kimzey made the FWSSR finals in 2020 but failed to make it eight seconds. In 2022, he finished third in the event.

Barrel Racing

Hayle Gibson-Stillwell made a clean sweep of Bracket 2, earning $5,000 and winning both rounds by more than two tenths of a second on average. Her Round 2 run of 16.11 seconds is the fastest time yet at this year’s FWSSR.

Gibson-Stillwell has continued to find success since her first career NFR last December, as has Tricia Alrdridge, the 2025 reserve World Champion, who qualified in second place with $3,800 in Bracket 2.

Last year’s event winner, Andrea Busby, came third with $3,000, sending her quest to repeat through the Wild Card.

Breakaway Roping

Taylor Munsell and Martha Angelone advanced from a Bracket 2 breakaway roping in Fort Worth that saw some very impressive times.

Munsell split Round 1 with Brooke Burner, who took the Wildcard spot, with a 2.0-second run and followed it up with a 2.7 in Round 2.

Angelone, on the other hand, won Round 2 with a 1.9-second run. There were five times of 2.0 or better in Bracket 2 after no such times in Bracket 1.

Tie-Down Roping

Kincade Henry was the champion of Bracket 2, matching John Douchs’s total to win Bracket 1 with $4,400.

The two-time FWSSR finalist opened the action with an 11-second, round-winning run. That was followed by a 9-second run good for second place in Round 2.

Zack Jongbloed, who finished fifth here in 2023, earned $4,000 to take the other Semifinal spot. Much of it came from his 8.5-second run to win Round 2.

Cash Fuesz netted $2,900 to take the Wild Card spot.

Saddle Bronc Riding

Q Taylor advanced to the Semifinals as the top qualifier in Bracket 3 with $4,400. Taylor won Round 2 with an event-high 88-point score on Diamond G Rodeo’s Chaynee’s Fancy.

Lucas Macza, a 2022 FWSSR finalist, finished as the next qualifier, with $4,000. Macza won the Bracket’s First Round with an 85-point ride atop Korkow Rodeo’s Friendly Repo.

Finally, 2024 FWSSR finalist Logan Hay rounded out the qualifying trio with $2,025.

Team Roping

Bracket 2 featured a tie at the top in the team roping with Jake Clay/Will Woodfin and Tyler Tryan/Levi Lord swapping first and second place in each round.

In Round 1, Tryan/Lord connected for a bracket-best 4.3-second run, netting $2,500 each. In Round 2, Clay and Woodfin won the $2,500 with a 4.9-second run.

Tyler Tryan’s father, Clay, and his partner Whip Peterson earned the Wild Card sport with $2,500 each.

Steer Wrestling

Tanner Brunner led Bracket 2 as the top qualifier with $3,500. The four-time NFR qualifier won Round 1 with a 3.7-second run, which was the fastest of the event through the first four performances.

Brunner is followed by 2025 NFR qualifiers Gavin Soileau and Rowdy Parrot, who made $2,500 and $2,325 respectively.

That trio all made the FWSSR finals in 2024 where Brunner won with a 3.7.

Additionally in Bracket 2, 2019 Steer Wrestling Champion Ty Erickson did not move on despite winning splitting Round 2 with a 4.0-second run. He finished with $2,200.

Bareback Riding

Gavin French secured Bracket 2’s top qualifier spot, out-earning Cooper Cooke by just $50.

This is French’s second FWSSR and he already has a blueprint for success in Dickies Arena. In last year’s event, French made it to the Semifinals after winning Round 2 of his Bracket.

French was second in both rounds this year, netting him $1,900 each night for a total of $3,800.

Cooke won the Round 1 with 81.5 points on Rafter G Rodeo’s Secret Agent Man and was third place in the Second Round.

Rounding out the qualifying trio is 13-year veteran Kody Lamb with $2,625. He will compete in the Wild Card.
