RodeoHouston Super Series 1 Recap: Michelle Alley Sweeps Barrel Racing, Tyson Durfey Turns Back the Clock, and More

No rodeo pays more than Houston, and the first group of athletes took a step toward that $65,000 payday by advancing out of Super Series 1.
Cole Reiner finished all three rounds in the money, winning the Super Series 1 bareback riding with $5,625. Reiner won the Third Round with an 86 on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Ruby Girl.
World No. 1 and San Antonio champion Wacey Schalla also collected three checks, and his total was $4,125. He was 85.5 on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Squirmy Worm for a Second Round win.
Jess Pope and Jason Wilson each earned $3,375, with Wilson nabbing the Round 1 win. They were the final riders to qualify in Super Series 1.
Marc Joiner earned two checks on his way to earning $5,000 and the top qualifying spot in the steer wrestling. He won Round 2 with a 3.6, the fastest run in Super Series 1.
Top-ranked Tyler Waguespack earned three checks and won Round 3 with a 4.8, but he was $250 short of Joiner with $4,750.
Trisyn Kalawaia and Tristan Martin each earned $3,000 to round out those moving on.
Notably, 2025 RodeoHouston winner and World Champion Tucker Allen earned $1,500 and has been eliminated from further contention.
In team roping, only $750 separated the first and last qualifiers.
Clint Summers/Jade Corkill and Kavis Drake/Denim Ross split first in the Super Series with $3,750 apiece.
Drake and Ross were 6.5 seconds to win Round 1 and cashed again in Round 3. Summers and Corkill didn’t win a round but earned checks in all three.
Rounding out the semifinalists, Jake Smith/Douglas Rich earned two checks totaling $3,250, and Dustin Egusquiza/JC Flake were 4.5 to win Round 3, earning $3,000 and the final qualifying spot.
Allen Boore won both Round 1 and 2 in the saddle bronc riding, earning $5,500 and the top qualifying spot. An 85 on The Cervi Brothers’ Box Cutter, followed by an 84.5 on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s Hard Drive, was enough to get the job done.
Lefty Holman cashed three checks, placing second in two rounds and earning $3,875 in total. Holman, who made the Final 4 in Houston in 2024, will look to return to the Shootout Round.
Gus Gaillard and Parker Fleet each nabbed a Go-Round win and qualified with $3,250 and $3,000 respectively.
2016 World Champion Tyson Durfey picked up three checks totaling $4,750, including a 9.4-second Round 2 win. It’s his first time competing in RodeoHouston since 2022.
Ty Harris was in the money twice and earned $4,000. He won Round 1 with a 9.0-second run.
Trevor Hale was 8.2 to win Round 3, earning his third check of the Super Series for $3,750 in total, and Michael Otero also earned three checks, with his tally reaching $3,500.
In barrel racing, Michelle Alley made a clean sweep of Super Series 1 and improved with each run, going from 14.56 to 14.4 to 14.35, winning an event-leading $9,000.
Lisa Lockhart and Hailey Kinsel, who both finished in the Top 10 in 2025, also advanced with $4,000 and $3,875 respectively.
Chloe Gray was in the money twice and was the final qualifier with $1,875.
Jake Gardner earned the top qualifying position in the bull riding with three rides in the money and zero round wins. He tied with Roscoe Jarboe with $5,500 each.
Jarboe was 86.5 on Generations Pro Rodeo’s Rise Up to win the Second Round.
Two of the top bull riders in the World in 2025 also moved on. Wacey Schalla earned two checks for $3,500, and Stetson Wright won the First Round, going 87.5 on The Cervi Brothers’ BlackBeard’s Revenge for $3,000.
Both Schalla and Wright will have the chance to advance to their second straight Shootout Round in Houston.
In breakaway roping, Jackie Crawford found the money three times on her way to the top qualifying spot. Her 3.4-second Round 2 win earned her the biggest chunk of her $5,750 event purse. Crawford is on her way to her fourth consecutive semifinal in Houston.
Kirby Rawlinson earned $4,000 without a round win. She tied with Jill Tanner, who was 3 seconds flat to win the Third Round.
Erin Johnson was the last to advance in the breakaway. She was 3.4 to win the First Round and earned $3,500 in total.
