Things can sometimes get lost in ProRodeo. There are often so many events going on at one time in so many places that it’s hard to keep up.

That becomes even harder when there are two Texas Swing rodeos and a trip to the White House dominating the headlines of the Western world. All of those things are big, huge even, but we at the Monday Notebook cannot let them overshadow the big picture. And that big picture this week includes an impactful X Bulls in Austin, some World No. 1s adding to their leads in Louisville, and a rookie who is anything but inexperienced getting a win in Florida.

Don’t worry, there’s plenty of RodeoHouston chatter to. So, let’s get into it.

After his winning his Super Series in Houston, No. 1 tie-down roper Kincade Henry opened up a big early lead in the Average at Rodeo Austin. Henry turned in three times of 8.6 or faster in Houston, including a rodeo-best 7.6, making him the only tie-down roper so far to be less than 25 seconds on aggregate across three runs. It paid him $6,875 as well, more than anyone else in his event. He kept trending the right direction in Austin by making runs of 8.3 and 7.6 seconds. Combine those two and it’s 15.8 seconds on two, and a lead of 2.4 seconds in the Average as part of the first group of competitors to come through Texas’ capital city. Henry leads the PRCA Tie-Down Roping World Standings by $26,000.

Saddle bronc rider Rusty Wright became the first athlete to earn more than $100,000 this season. The eldest Wright brother officially crossed that mark thanks to a $3,580 payday for third-place at the Cinch World’s Toughest in Louisville. Wright finished second in San Antonio and first in Fort Worth and also advanced out of his Super Series in Houston last week. For the season, he is averaging 85.5 points per ride.

John Crimber won the Arcadia All-Florida Championship to get his first career PRCA win. The PBR phenom bought his PRCA card after earning about $7,000 on his permit and he now has some official PRCA earnings to show. He was 89 points on Double J’s Curve Ball to bank $5,666. He also retook the lead in the PBR World Standings over the weekend with a third-place finish in Tallahassee. So far, he is double dipping with terrific efficiency.

Wacey Schalla extended his lead in the PRCA Bareback Riding World Standings with a win at the Cinch World’s Toughest in Louisville. Schalla is now up about $14,000 on World No. 2 Jake Lees after an 87-point ride on Monkey Wrench paid him over $6,000. He is in position to add to that as well after an 86.5-point ride in Austin tied him for first in Round 1. Schalla’s season totals are eye-popping. He has 11 Go-Round Wins already and every single one of his 23 rides this season have been worth at least 80 points.

Dylan Rice more than doubled his season earnings for a victory at Rodeo Austin Xtreme Bulls. It has been a strange season for the 26-year-old. He finished second and third at a pair of rodeos during the first weekend of the regular season back in October and made almost $7,000 between them. From there, he went without a check through all of November, December, January, and February. March has been good to him, however. He won about $6,000 between the Xtreme Bull Bash in Lufkin and his Super Series in Houston before banking $13,476 for his 89-point ride on March 13 in Austin. All told, he is No. 20 in the World Standings with $25,878.

Also in Rodeo Austin Xtreme Bulls news, Luke Mackey is No. 1 in the PRCA World Standings after taking second there. The Colorado Kid was 87 points on Pale Face to make $10,450 and bring his season earnings to $64,032. He is riding 64.5% of his bulls since bucking off of his first four of the season.

Saddle bronc rider Kade Bruno won his Super Series in Houston and Arcadia last week. It was a different kind of double dip for the Idaho native, but could end up being just as lucrative. Bruno won two of the three Go-Rounds in Super Series IV to make $6,500 and then added another $4,309 for an 87.5-point ride on Gossip Girl in Florida. The four-time NFR qualifier is No. 4 in the World Standings.

Tanner Tomlinson/Coleby Payne are 7.5 seconds on two in Austin. It is unlikely that the time will fall between now and the Finals and this new pair will likely be in the driver’s seat to claim the Average title once the Finals comes around on March 28. They were 3.5 seconds on their second run, which is four-tenths better than the fastest time of the entire rodeo in 2025.

Emily Beisel swept the barrel racing in Super Series III in Houston. She entered No. 1 and kept up what has been a marvelous Texas Swing for her with three straight runs of 14.81 or faster to win $9,000. She won her Super Series in 2025 and made the Championship Round, but hit a barrel there.
