Championship Sunday in Cheyenne was as good as winner-take-all rodeo gets with drama, ties, massive scores, and fast runs all over the board during a thrilling day at Frontier Park.

Jayco Roper delivered the ride of his life in Cheyenne, a career-best 93 points aboard Summit Rodeo’s CC Blue. Then came the longest wait of the week as Trevor McAllister, the final cowboy out, answered with 91.5, but it wasn’t enough.

In addition to McAllister, Kade Sonnier was also 91.5 points and Kash Loyd was 90.

Roper, who started the week No. 19 in the World, was 90, 88.5 and 93 on his three rides in Cheyenne to win a total of $15,800.

Britt Bedke turned in the second-fastest tie-down run of the rodeo with a 10.3, just hours after placing fifth in Salt Lake City the night before.

Right behind Bedke were Macon Murphy and Cory Solomon at 10.5 and 10.7 seconds respectively.

Cheyanne McCartney added another milestone to an incredible season, winning Cheyenne with the fastest breakaway run of the rodeo, a 4.3, becoming the first breakaway roper to win both Calgary and Cheyenne in the same year.

She was the last out and said she didn’t watch much of the round prior to here winning run.

“I watched a couple just to get a visual of the start I wanted to see,” she said. “

The saddle bronc riding finale at The Dad will undoubtedly go down as one of the best rounds we’ll see this entire with three of the best in the game making show-stopping rides.

Ryder Wright, Sage Newman, and Brody Cress all posted 92-point rides, but Wright claimed the title on the tiebreaker after an incredible set of rides of 89.5, 90, and 92.

He entered No. 5 in the World, but with his $14,633 he will likely jump Wyatt Casper and sit behind Kade Bruno and his two brothers — Rusty and Stetson.

Cole Pugh was a very accomplished junior steer wrestler and the permitholder announced himself on the ProRodeo stage in Cheyenne this year. He made two of the three fastest runs of the rodeo and improved every round (5.9, 5.5, 5.3), edging Tristan Martin’s 5.4 in the Short Round, a victory that was met with a big celebratory leap into the air with some flails of the arms. He was the only steer wrestler to record three runs in the 5s.

“I had a good one drawn and I’d already done it a couple of times,” he said after his winning Short Round run. “I knew I could get faster.”

Sons of World Champions, Nicky Northcott and Tyler Tryan were perhaps destined to be great in ProRodeo, but it certainly happened fast.

At 19 and 20-years-old respectively they are Cheyenne Frontier Days Champion after winning a tiebreaker over Kaleb Driggers/Junior Nogueira as both teams were 7.6 in the Finals.

An NFR debut is getting closer and closer to reality for Northcott/Tryan, they are No. 6 and 7 in the World and just added $12,600 to their respective season earnings.

Tayla Moeykens had come close to winning The Dad in recent years, finishing fifth in 2024 and second in 2025. She broke through with a 17.41-second run that could’ve been faster if not for a slight slip around the second barrel.

“It’s just him and his heart,” she said of her horse Yeti. “He gives it to me every single time, bottom of the ground, it was a little deeper out there, and he didn’t let it faze him. He just went out and did his job.”

There were a total of seven 90-point bull riders in Cheyenne this year, so it was fitting that it ended with one more. World No. 6 Luke Mackey was the man with the score, doing so on Dakota Rodeo’s Tiger King.

Mackey won over $17,000 for the week.
