This weekend in ProRodeo belongs to Super Series 2 in Houston and from Leighton Berry’s historic three-peat pursuit to multi-time World Champions like Zeke Thurston and Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, there’s plenty of athletes to keep an eye on for the high-stakes battle in NRG Stadium.
BAREBACK RIDING
Leighton Berry – Berry was an easy choice to lead things off here. He is looking to join Kaycee Feild (2014-2016) as the only bareback rider to ever three-peat in Houston.
Cole Franks – Franks enters the weekend No. 6 in the World with plenty of Texas Swing success already in 2025. He was fourth in San Antonio and third in Fort Worth with rides of 88.5 and 89.5 points in the Finals.
STEER WRESTLING
Trisyn Kalawaia – The 22-year-old Hawaiian has finished No. 34 and No. 20 the last two seasons and a win in Houston would go a long way in helping him breakthrough to the National Finals for the first time.
Landris White – The former high school football standout is No. 20 in the World and in the midst of the best season of his career. He has already made the Finals in San Antonio and Denver.
TEAM ROPING
Dillon Graham/Dawson Graham – Despite competing at just four rodeos so far this season, both are in the Top 15.
Andrew Ward/Jake Long – Despite a Finals appearance in Fort Worth, both cowboys are still outside the Top 50. A big week in Houston could quickly turn the season around for this new pair that has combined for 19 NFRs.
SADDLE BRONC RIDING
Zeke Thurston – A decade ago, Thurston won RodeoHouston as a 21-year-old. Since then, he has also won four Gold Buckles.
Statler Wright – Wright comes in No. 5 in the World, but has bucked off two of his last four horses. En route to a second place finish in Fort Worth earlier this year, he finished the rodeo with three straight rides of 86 or better.
BREAKAWAY ROPING
Rylee George – The Stephenvill native enters Houston No. 12 in the World. Between Fort Worth and San Antonio, she has six times of 2.4 seconds or faster.
Madison Outhier – In an uncharacteristic start to the year, Outhier has just $668 won so far on the season. She looks to break out inside NRG Stadium.
TIE-DOWN ROPING
Joel Harris – Harris had about as good of a debut as you can have in Houston, losing in a rope-off to his older brother, Ty. He went on to make his first NFR and win two rounds there as well.
Ty Harris – Speaking of Ty, he is not only the 2024 RodeoHouston Champion but one of the most consistent calf ropers in the PRCA this decade. He has been to every NFR since 2019.
BARREL RACING
Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi – Pozzi Tonozzi won her third World Title in 2023, but has yet to capture the crown at RodeoHouston. She’ll hope to dominate like fellow veteran Lisa Lockhart did in Super Series 1.
Shelley Morgan – In each of the last three years, Morgan has advanced out of her Super Series in Houston.
BULL RIDING
Wacey Schalla – The two-event standout didn’t have any luck in the bareback riding in Super Series 1, but as No. 2 bull rider in the World, he expects to show out in what is becoming his signature event.
Jordan Spears – At his last rodeo, the five-time NFR qualifier went 2-for-2 to win La Fiesta De Los Vaqueros.
