Bracket 4 Recap: Bareback Rider Bradlee Miller Continues to Shine in San Antonio
Bracket 4 Recap: Bareback Rider Bradlee Miller Continues to Shine in San Antonio
After surging from No. 11 to No. 4 in the final PRCA World Standings at the NFR last December, 21-year-old Bradlee Miller realized a World Title was truly an immediate, achievable goal. And one of the ways to win that Gold Buckle is to come out firing in the Texas Swing, which the Huntsville native has.
He entered Fort Worth No. 1 in the World and finished fourth, his first trip to the Finals there, before his most recent stop, San Antone, where he won Rounds 2 and 3 in Bracket 4 with rides of 88 and 88.5 points. He totaled nearly $7,000 as all three of his rides were marked 85.5 or better.
“Every season I have rodeoed I have improved in different ways,” he said. “I brought a new confidence into this season that I didn’t have last year. The momentum from the end of last year has seemed to carry into this season.”
Miller has been No. 1 or No. 2 in the World Standings since the calendar turned to 2025 and that’s a head start he relishes moving forward.
“I don’t really pay much attention to the World Standings. I am excited to come into the summer this year with money won that I have in the past, I would much rather be the guy everyone is chasing than the other way around.”
QUICK DRAW
Dustin Egusquiza/Levi Lord swept the bracket in team roping and did so with a 3.5-second run in Round 1 and 3.6 in Round 2. The 3.5 is the fastest of the rodeo and the 3.6 is the second-fastest. After winning Fort Worth, Shad Mayfield advanced out of this bracket with round-winning times of 7.7 and 7.1 seconds. Dating back to last year, five of his last eight runs in San Antonio have been 7.7 or faster. No barrel racer had been faster than 13.90 through the first three brackets in San Antonio. All three round winning times were faster than that in Bracket 4. Sophie Palmore did it twice (13.80 and 13.87) and Andrea Busby once (13.89). Tristan Mize rode all three of his bulls in Bracket, making him the third cowboy to start 3-for-3. He won $11,905, the most of any bull rider so far. Dawson Hay made three straight rides of 86 points or better to win the bracket in the saddle bronc riding.RESULTS
