Dixie National Rodeo Recap and Payouts
Dixie National Rodeo Recap and Payouts
The Dixie National Rodeo in Jackson, Mississippi’s lone PRCA Playoff Series Rodeo, has steadily grown in stature as a key February stop, one of the few this month offering winners a payout exceeding $5,000.
In bareback riding, rookie Owen Brouilette delivered a standout performance, besting top competitors Nick Pelke, Taylor Broussard, and Dean Thompson with an 88-point ride on Korkow Rodeo’s Tator Tot. The win marked his first career Playoff victory.
Saddle bronc riding saw Ben Andersen reclaim the spotlight, securing his first win of the season with an 87.5-point ride, his second Dixie National victory in the past three years.
But the most electrifying moment came in the bull riding, where Jessi Petri posted a 90.5-point ride in the eighth of nine performances. He won by a 6.5-point margin with the first 90+ Point Ride in bull riding at the event since 2022.
Over in the timed events, Riley Duvall showcased the ability that got him to four NFRs with two impressive runs of 3.6 and 4.0 seconds to claim the steer wrestling title. In team roping, Mason Appleton and Rance Doyal outpaced the competition with a 4.0-second run, finishing a half-second ahead of the field.
Tie-down roping featured a battle of Louisiana cowboys, with Macon Murphy piecing together runs that placed him fourth and fifth in the rounds, ultimately clinching the Average title with an aggregate time of 16.7 seconds on two head. He bested fellow Cajun Zack Jongbloed by six-tenths of a second.
Barrel racing saw an early leaderboard topper hold strong as Tayla Moeykens’ 14.31-second run from the First Performance remained unbeaten through the week. Though Tricia Aldridge and Randee Prindle made strong challenges, Moeykens’ time stood, earning her a $6,702 payday.
