With $11,910 going to each winner last night, every ride and run is high stakes from the start at the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls.
In bareback riding, World No. 5 Cole Franks got the first Go-Round win Friday night by riding Barnes PRCA Rodeo’s Trooper for 87.5 points, which was 2.5 points better the now World No. 2 Sam Petersen. No. 2 and No. 5 are currently separated by just $22,500 in the bareback riding with Rocker Steiner still out in front by more than $50,000.
Steer wrestling was FAST with nine times of 4.3 seconds or better and Rowdy Parrott won it with a 3.3. Right behind him was World No. 1 Will Lummus at 3.4 while bubble cowboys Cody Devers and Mike McGinn split third at 3.5.
Team roping featured even more bubble drama than the steer wrestling with Luke Brown/Trey Yates winning the Go-Round with a 4.2 to both jump to No. 12, up from No. 16 and No. 15 at the beginning of the evening.
