Headliners and Hidden Gems From Del Rio, Lufkin, All Over California

From Clovis to Lakeside and Springville to Stagecoach, a majority of the PRCA’s events were held in California last week, while stops were also made in Texas for the Angelina Benefit Rodeo and down in Del Rio for the historic George Paul Memorial.

Headliner – Tristen Hutchings: Hutchings rose to No. 2 in the PRCA World Standings over the weekend after sweeping the George Paul Memorial with rides of 89 and 90 points. Since March 29, he is 6-for-10 and has won over $36,000.

Hidden Gem – Ramon de Souza: The Brazilian who primarily competes in the PBR may spend more time over in the PRCA after winning all $16,000+ in the bull riding at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo for being the only cowboy to make the whistle. He has entered three PRCA events in April and has two second-place finishes to go along with his win in Lufkin.

Headliner – Tilden Hooper: The nine-time NFR qualifier continues to not miss a beat in his first season healthy in three years. Over the weekend, he was third at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo with 86.5 points on Buffalo Soldier and got a big win in Clovis with 88 points aboard Virgil. Since the beginning of San Angelo, he has made five straight rides of 86 points or better.

Hidden Gem – Mike McGinn: McGinn got his first win of the 2025 season and had to rally to do it. After finishing 31st in Round 1 of the bulldogging in Clovis, he responded with wins in Rounds 2 and 3 and a second-place finish in the Finals to win the Average by a whopping 3.8 seconds.

Headliner – TJ Gray: The No. 4 bull rider in the World Standings has been keeping pace with the best of the best by adding two Playoff wins in April. Following San Angelo, he was 88.5 points to win $10,000 in Clovis and he also went 2-for-2 in the Xtreme Bulls there.

Hidden Gem – Tucker Bourdet: The 22-year-old bronc rider made his highest marked ride of the season in Clovis, 87 points on The Black Tie for fourth place and almost $4,000.

Headliner – Brye Crites/Tyler Worley: The pair won Clovis and nearly $10,000, making it their second-highest paying win since becoming partners in 2024. They added an additional $3,600 by winning the Lakeside Rodeo with a 4.6-second run. Crites is up to No. 16 in the World while Worley is No. 12.

Hidden Gem – Tyler Tryan/Denton Dunning: This pair of 19-year-olds are now both in the Top 12 in the PRCA World Standings after finishing second in the Average and winning Round 1 in Clovis. The weekend prior, they made the Finals in Red Bluff.

Headliner – Dawson Hay: Hay brought in over $10,000 thanks to a pair of 88-point rides on the weekend to become the second saddle bronc rider to bring in more than $100,000 already this season. He won the Lakeside Rodeo and took second in Clovis.

Hidden Gem – Robbie Taylor: Taylor was 2-for-2 on the weekend an it resulted in a third place finish at the Desert Rodeo and a win at the Springville Sierra Rodeo, where he rode for 88.5 points.

Headliner – RC Landingham: Landingham won big at the same rodeos Taylor did, finishing first in Springville and at the Desert Rodeo. He has five wins this season and four have come in California.

Hidden Gem – Thayne Elshere: Elshere has been featured as a saddle bronc rider before, but showed off his bull riding prowess over the weekend by riding for 87.5 points to win the Lakeside Rodeo and 80 for second at the Desert Rodeo, where he also won the all-around. He sis second in the Permit Standings in both events.
