This week’s headliners and hidden gems include standouts in at the PRCA’s highest-paying rodeos Houston, winners in the Sunshine State and more.

Headliner: Waylon Bourgeois – The 25-year-old bareback rider has won more than anyone in Houston with $8,500. He split Round 1 and won Rounds 2 and 3 of Super Series 1 outright with three straight rides of 85 points or better.

Hidden Gem: Ernie Courson Jr. – The Florida native has not left his home state much. He has 10 outs since Feb. 13 and eight of them have come in Florida. Last weekend, he won in Arcadia with 87.5 points on Okeechobee with 83 points. That is now three straight weekends with a win in the Sunshine State.

Headliner: Lisa Lockhart – For the second straight year, Lockhart won the barrel racing in Super Series 1 of RodeoHouston and in 2025, she was even better than 2024. She upped her total from $6,500 to $8,000 thanks to two Go-Round wins and a second place finish. She has the fastest run of the rodeo through 8 performances at 14.35.

Hidden Gem: Allen Boore – Boore finished second in the Average in Tucson on Feb. 23 and the next time we saw him, he won the Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo with a season-high 88 points on March 9. Boore finished No. 18 a year ago and is looking to get back to his first NFR since 2020. He is currently No. 24 in the World.

Headliner: Kade Bruno – Bruno regained the No. 1 spot in the PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Standings from Dawson Hay, who had it for about three days before Bruno took it back. He did so by finishing second at the Cinch World’s Toughest in Columbia, South Carolina.

Hidden Gem: Rusty Wright – With his last name and five NFRs, Wright doesn’t seem like a hidden gem, but he has been battling injuries on and off and has not been to rodeo’s biggest stage since 2020. Over the weekend, he picked up his first win and made his highest marked ride of the season (86 points) at the Florida Gateway Pro Rodeo.

Headliner: Kincade Henry – Henry is the only tie-down roper through the first 8 performances in Houston to win multiple rounds. He was 9.5 in Round 1 and improved to 8.6 to take Round 2 as well. He won $6,000 and moved up to No. 20 in the World Standings.

Hidden Gem: Lane McGehee – The Texan won more than $4,500 in his home state in the last five days between Bay City and Houston. He won the Matagorda County Fair and Rodeo with 86 points on Knight Mare and was 88 in Houston, where he added $3,125, but missed out on advancing after losing a tiebreaker in Super Series 2.

Headliner: Shayla Hall – Hall won $6,000 in her Super Series while only one other breakaway roper in Houston has cleared $4,000. She was 3.9 in Round 1 and 3.6 in Round 3 of Super Series 1.

Hidden Gem: Cash Hooper – Hooper had no money entering Round 3 of Super Series 1, but won it with an 8.7-second run and the $3,000 he made from it was enough to advance. He is No. 11 in the World Standings and those are the types of runs in tournament-style rodeos that can make or break a season.
