The 50th annual Dodge City Roundup Rodeo concluded Sunday with $274,010 in prize money paid out.

With August here, less than two months of competition remain before the NFR qualifiers are set in stone.

Some of the winners in Dodge City have been there before, while others are hoping to make it for the first time. Here’s a look at some of the names you could see competing in December.

Jess Pope was second in both rounds and finished first in the Average with 176 points on two head. Pope has been on a tear recently, placing third or better in all six of his rides since the Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo. The $8,550 he earned at Dodge City helped him climb to No. 3 in the World Standings with $149,518. It’s Pope’s second Dodge City title in the last three years after also winning in 2024.

Cole Reiner won the First Round, and Tim O’Connell won the Final Round, with matching 89.5-point rides.

2024 World Champion J.D. Struxness won the steer wrestling Average with a time of 12.6 seconds on three head. He finished fourth, 15th, and second in the three rounds to earn $9,110.

Struxness now sits 10th in the World Standings, up from No. 15 to begin the weekend, with $91,958.

All three round-winning runs were 3.8 seconds or faster and the fastest of the rodeo belonged to Rowdy Parrott, who won Round 1 with a 3.6-second run. Parrott finished second in the Average with a time of 13.4 seconds on three head.

Tyler Tryan and Nicky Northcott were under 6.0 seconds in all three rounds and won the Average with 16.7 seconds on three head.

The duo finished Top 10 in all three rounds and cashed checks in two of them. Combined with their average check, they earned $9,923 each. They are now both No. 3 in the World and on the cusp of their first NFR.

Three different riders tied at 172.5 points to split the saddle bronc riding title. Brody Cress, Waitley Sharon, and Dane McPhail all shared the event victory.

Cress and McPhail tied for second in both rounds, scoring 84.5 in the First Round and 88 in the Final Round. Meanwhile, Sharon, the top Resistol Rookie, was 82 points in Round 1 to finish sixth before winning the Short Round with a 90.5-point ride on Championship Pro Rodeo’s No. 79.

Sharon leads the trio in the World Standings at No. 15 with $96,190.

Two-time NFR qualifier Joel Harris was 25.9 seconds on three head to win the tie-down roping Average and cashed checks in every round along the way.

He has now won over $50,000 and three PRCA Playoff Series Rodeos over the last two weeks. He is up to No. 2 in the World Standings.

Makenzie Mayes won two of the three rounds on her way to the barrel racing title. Mayes was 16.92 to win the Second Round before posting an event-best 16.84 in the Finals. She ended up at 51.42 in the Aggregate and won the rodeo by four-tenths of a second.

Cheyenne champion Luke Mackey finished second in both rounds to win the bull riding Average with 171 points on two head.

Mackey earned $10,957 and now sits fourth in the World Standings with $178,213.
