With the end of Reno, it’s officially on in professional rodeo. Hundreds of thousands will be racked up by some cowboys over the next three months and the World Standings will be ever-changing. Right now, however, it’s still barely, just barely the time of year where one big win or one big weekend can change your fate in 2026. Several athletes proved that in Reno.

It’s the Summer Run, though, so of course there’s more than just one rodeo covered in this week’s Monday Notebook. We have updates on Rodeo of the Ozarks producing a World No. 1, an NFR bareback rider ratcheting his season up in Pecos, and a pair of Reno winners who are off to a great start in Greeley as well.

All of that, and more, below…..

Bradlee Miller and Jacob Lees have both jumped Rocker Steiner in the Bareback Riding World Standings. It was only a matter of time before someone unseated the injury Rocker Steiner as the No. 1 man in the bareback riding, and Miller was the one to do that. He won $7,015 for his 88-point ride on Pearl Harbor at Rodeo of the Ozarks to push his season earnings to $129,254. Meanwhile, Lees added a win at the Old Santa Ynez Days Rodeo last weekend and a third-place finish in the Average in Reno to move himself to No. 2, the highest ranking of his career.

Bryce Derrer rose eight spots to No. 10 after tie-down roping win in Reno. No Reno Champion moved up as many spots as Derrer, who won $17,929 in total. Derrer entered the Short Round in Reno with the lead and did what he needed with a 9.3. The 24-year-old isn’t done yet, either. After first weekend in Greeley, he is fourth in the Average there.

Hayden Welsh continued to push toward to the top of the PRCA Bull Riding World Standings with win in Reno. Welsh is now within $5,000 of Noah Lee in the Resistol Rookie Race and the No. 3 spot in the PRCA World Standings after an impressive showing in Reno. Welsh was 87.5 in the Long Round and 90 in the Short Round to beat out Hudson Bolton by 1.5 points in the Average. We also learned some bull riders who have seemed invincible this year are indeed human. Stetson Wright bucked off in the Long Round in Reno, Noah Lee’s 80.5 points weren’t enough to get him through to Championship Saturday, and needing 87 points to match Welsh as the last cowboy out in the Reno Finals, John Crimber bucked off as well.

James Arviso/Levi Lord won Reno, and also lead in Greeley. The pair are both now safely into the Top 5 and it appears this new partnership will be a profitable one. In Reno, they finished Top 10 in every round with three runs of 5.5 seconds or faster, taking care of business in the Finals with a 5.1. They were eight-tenths clear of the next closest team, Short Round winners Erich Rogers/Cory Persia.

Ryder Wright won out over a crowded saddle bronc riding leaderboard in Reno. One week after Wright got his biggest win of the season at the Snake River Stampede, he got an even bigger one, winning Reno thanks to a 91.5-point ride in the Short Round. Wright had to break through a crowded leaderboard where six bronc riders finished with either 258.5 or 259.5 points on three. Wright finished with 264.5 points in total and he and brother Statler have now won Reno four of the last five years.

Bareback rider Cole Franks put himself in position for a much-needed big jump to start the Summer Run. Franks made a 90-point ride to win the West of the Pecos Rodeo and also leads Round 1 in Greeley thanks to an 87.5-point ride. The weekend prior, he won about $6,000 between Fallon, Vernal, and Elko. Franks, a four-time NFR qualifier, started the Summer Run No. 47 and now sits No. 39 with a chance to push toward the Top 30 in Greeley.

Bull rider Tristan Mize won three of the four rodeos he entered as part of a 4-for-4 weekend. Mize had the type of weekend that is unique to the Summer Run in ProRodeo. He went to four rodeos in three different states, won three of them, and placed third in the other. All told, he won over $20,000, about $15,000 of which came from a 90.5-point ride in Pecos and an 88-point ride in Springdale, Arkansas.

Kade Sonnier’s steadiness in Reno led him to victory, and a spot in the Top 15. Sonnier moved from No. 18 to No. 13 and was simply rock-solid throughout Reno. He placed second in all three rounds with rides of 86, 87.5 and 87 points and cruised to a six-point win over second-place Jess Pope. Since April 22, he has only been marked below 83 points once.

Steer wrestler Dalton Massey jumped from No. 10 to No. 4 in the World after grabbing a piece of the title in Reno. Massey made a huge move as he looks to get back to the NFR by winning Round 1 and the Average in Reno, the latter of which he shared with Tristan Martin. It was Massey’s biggest win of the season and he has won $28,750 since June 11.
