Sage Kimzey dominated in his second event win of his season in Jacksonville.

He went a perfect 3 for 3 on bulls, capping his weekend with an event-best 90.75 atop Lights Out to win the Short Round and the Event.

Kimzey had an aggregate score of 261.9 and earned 138 Event Points.

With that, he has overtaken John Crimber for the No. 1 position in the World Standings with a total of 500 points.

Kimzey, who was also victorious in NYC, has now finished in the Top 10 in past four consecutive events. He’s covered 10-of-13 bulls in that stretch and overall has been the most consistent rider on tour. His 68% riding percentage is tops in Unleash the Beast this season, the next closest being Alex Cerqueira at 64.29%.

Cerqueira also had an exceptional weekend. He covered all three of his bulls, including an 87.95 on Elmo to win Round 2. Cerqueira earned 101 points and jumped from 11th to 5th in the World Rankings as the event runner-up. It was his third Top 3 finish of the season.

The 32-year-old Brazilian has a career-high 18 qualified ride, the most in UTB competition this season. He has reached that mark in just 28 outs, compared to his previous season best of 17 in 2024, which came on 62 attempts.

Bob Mitchell finished third in what marked his first Top 5 finish, but fourth Top 10 finish, of the season.

Felipe Furlan impressed once again this weekend, covering two out of his three bulls and finishing fourth. He notched a pair of 89.65-point rides, winning the First Round. It is the second straight weekend he has gone 2-for-3.

Cort McFadden continues to shoot up the world leaderboard with his 5th-place finish this past weekend.

In only seven events this season, McFadden has strung together his second Top 10 finish in a row, his third in the last four events, and his fourth overall.

Top 10 Struggles

Leandro Zampollo fell outside of the top 10 rankings this week after covering only one of his two bulls. He was 85.35 on Rockville in the Second Round, but it wasn’t enough to get him into Saturday’s Short Round.

Zampollo currently sits in 11th place with 288.5 points, just a half point behind 10th-place Marco Rizzo.

Dalton Kasel failed to convert in either of his rides this past weekend, extending his buckoff streak to five.

Kasel hasn’t been bucked off five bulls in a row on tour since January of 2025 and hasn’t missed six in a row since February of 2022.

Kasel isn’t the only Top 10 rider to leave Jacksonville empty-handed. Julio Cesar Marques failed to make the whistle on either of his bulls and is now just three for his last 13.

Paulo Eduardo Rossetto extended his buck-off streak to four, his worst stretch of the season so far. Rossetto is now two for his last 10.

Cassio Dias won his first event of the season last week in Pittsburgh, but couldn’t follow that up in Jacksonville. He was bucked off twice, but remains No. 9 in the World Standings.

Team Challenge

The Nashville Stampede (2-1) defeated the Texas Rattlers (1-2) by a slim margin on Friday night.

Each squad posted two qualified rides apiece with Stampede rider Alan de Souza initiating the action with an 83.85 on Hay Train.

The Rattlers responded. Brady Fielder was 86.9 on Red Reservation for his lone qualified ride of the weekend. Claudio Montanha Jr. was an unselfish 73.35 on Sunday Best to boost the Rattlers to 160.25 overall points.

That left Kaiden Loud with a re-ride opportunity for the win, and he delivered. His 83.3 on Real Deal sealed it for the Stampede, 167.15-160.25.

In the second matchup Friday night, the Florida Freedom (2-1) beat the shorthanded Carolina Cowboys (0-3) in another close game.

The Cowboys are still without top rider Clay Guiton, and he won’t compete until at least the World Finals in May. Furthermore, Jess Lockwood was a late scratch, as he continues to recover from a neck injury suffered in Tampa.

On Friday, Carolina did get qualified rides from Ramon Fiorini and Manoelito de Souza Junior, but each ride was for fewer than 80 points.

Meanwhile, the Freedom’s John Crimber was 85.7 on Margin of Error for his first team challenge points of the season and Alex Cerqueira was 83.55 on The Preacher for his first of three qualified rides over the weekend.

The Freedom are now in third place overall in the Team Challenge Standings.
