Seven-time PRCA World Champion Sage Kimzey picked up his first regular season win in Milwaukee, and it was a big one, moving him to No. 2 in the PBR Unleash The Beast Standings with just eight events remaining in the regular season.
Kimzey split second in Round 1 with 89 points on Skippy and took the lead with 88 points on I Hate You in Round 2, the first of two bulls he’d ride on Sunday. He finished the job with 88.25 on Eyes on Me. It was his sixth qualified in a row, giving him the longest active streak on the UTB Tour.
“I feel like this is the first time the PBR’s got to see me at full strength and full potential, whether it be injuries or soreness, what ever it’d be, my body is feeling good and my mind’s feeling really good,” he said between Rounds 2 and 3 Sunday.
Kimzey earned 140.50 points toward the World Title race and $48,442 for his victory.
Alvidrez, Furlan Ride For 90+ In Championship Round
After seven weeks off, Man Hater returned in a big way as Andrew Alvidrez rode him for a career-high 94 points in the Championship Round.
Alvidrez selected the reigning Yeti Bull of the Year despite bucking off his four previous outs on him.
Alvidrez ended up just 0.25 points behind Kimzey in the end.
Finishing second in the Championship Round and third overall was Felipe Furlan, who rode Lights Out for 91 points. He jumped six spots in the standings, from No. 31 to No. 25.
Rounding out the Top 5 was World No. 1 Brady Fiedler and Kaiden Loud, who also went 3-for-3. It is the second straight week five or more riders have covered all three bulls.
Kaique Pacheco Wins Round 1, Finishes Sixth
The Ice Man looked like he could win in Milwaukee for the third time in four years when he started things off with 90 points on Mike’s Motive in a round when 60 percent of the cowboys made the whistle. It was the second weekend in a row Pacheco won Round 1.
Pacheco bucked off in Round 2, but covered Big Chili for 89.25 in the Championship Round. He was the best of the four bull riders who rode two and finished sixth.
He earned 57 points toward the World Championship race and is No. 8 in the standings.
Ramon de Lima Gets Velocity Tour Win in Connecticut
Ramon de Lima outlasted the rest of the field in Bridgeport, turning in an 83.5-point ride to win the Championship Round and finish as one of two riders to go a perfect 3-for-3.
It was a much-needed weekend for the 34-year-old de Lima, who was 2-for-8 in four events since making his season debut on Jan. 10 in Charleston. He has 134.50 Velocity Global Points and 121 of them came from this event.
Aaron Williams, who finished with 225 points to de Lima’s 238, took second in the event while reigning PBR Velocity Tour champion and Round 1 winner Grayson Cole took third.
