There’s a new highest marked ride in every roughstock event and the multi-time World Champions both struck again in Super Series 2, Round 2 in Houston.

Bareback rider Kade Sonnier set the first of the three new high bars by riding Cervi Championship’s Honcho for 87.5 points. He is second in the Super Series with $3,750 behind Round 1 winner and back-to-back champion Leighton Berry.

In steer wrestling, Gavin Soileau’s 5 flat was 1.8 seconds faster than the Round 1 winning time in Super Series 2 and helped him bounce back from not winning a check in Round 1. He is tied for second in the Super Series with Eli Lord, who finished second in Round 2. Trisyn Kalawaia is in first.

Team roping was won by Dawson and Dillon Graham with a 5.4-second run and the $3,000 payday tied them for first in the Super Series with Round 1 winners Andrew Ward/Jake Long.

Saddle bronc riding delivered the first repeat winner with Zeke Thurston turning in an 88.5-point ride on The Cervi Brothers’ Mike Honcho to bring his earnings to $6,000 in Houston.

Breakaway roping saw Madison Outlier win the round and immediately move to a tie atop the Super Series leaderboard with Braylee Shepherd. They even made identical 3.4-second runs.

The steer wrestling and team roping got faster in Round 2, but the tie-down roping slowed down with Zack Jongbloed taking first with a 10.2, which would have been fourth on Friday night.

Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi once again won the barrel racing and, like Thurston, brought her total to $6,000. Her runs of 14.37 and 14.46 are the second and fourth fastest of the rodeo through five performances.

And to close the night the bull riding got more wide open on Saturday night, just like it was in Super Series 1. Scottie Knapp won Round 2 with 88 points and with three new riders making the whistle, six of the eight cowboys have one qualified ride going into Sunday afternoon’s performance to close down Super Series 2.
