RodeoHouston Super Series 3 Recap and Results
RodeoHouston Super Series 3 Recap and Results
Super Series 3 delivered RodeoHouston’s first clean sweep and plenty of representation from Canada and Altamont, Utah.
Let’s start in the bull riding today to make sure the man of the hour Trevor Reiste gets his shine.
Reiste made three straight rides of 86.5 points or better to dominate the Super Series with three straight round wins and $9,000 earned. He was $7,000 clear of the rest of the field.
Reiste is 5-for-8 on the season having competed in only Houston and San Antonio so far.
On to Canada, specifically Alberta, the home province of Ben Andersen, Kolby Wanchuk, and Logan Hay, who advanced as the Top 3 along with Montana native Chase Brooks.
Andersen was the best of the bunch with $5,500, including an 89-point ride on Xena Warrior, the highest of the rodeo in any roughstock event so far.
“It helps a lot to know your bucking horses and make a game plan. I used to never make a game plan. Now, I make a game plan, come in and try to execute accordingly,” he told ProRodeo.com “And it’s been a lot better.”
For the record, the capital of Alberta, Edmonton, is 2,200 miles away from Houston.
Edmonton is home to over a million people while Altamont is home to, well, much less than that. The Utah town of 249 has, however, produced two of rodeo’s brightest young stars – bareback rider Dean Thompson and steer wrestler Cash Robb.
Thompson won a Gold Buckle in 2024 and entered Houston in the Top 5 in the PRCA World Standings. He proceeded to win Round 1 with 88.5 points on Cinchy Whitney and followed it up with a split of first for an 85.5-poiunt ride on Forgetful Nelly. He tallied $6,500 to win the Super Series by more than $2,000.
Robb, the 2024 NFR Average Champion, also won $5,500 in the first two rounds – splitting Round 1 with Stetson Jorgensen and winning Round 2 outright with a 4.7-second run.
“To be able to win the Super Series two years in a row, I’m just so excited,” Robb said. “I hope we have a little different outcome in the Semis and try to make it to the Finals this year.”
The other Super Series 3 winners were Dustin Egusquiza/Levi Lord in team roping ($7,000), (breakaway), Riley Webb in tie-down roping ($6,000), Apen Miller in breakaway roping ($6,750) and Emily Beisel in barrel racing ($5,500).
QUICK DRAW
Dustin Egusquiza/Levi Lord have made eight runs in the Texas Swing this season, they have won the Go-Round in eight of them. Riley Webb won the final two rounds of the Super Series after finishing last in Round 1 due to a broken barrier. Aspen Miller is the highest earning breakaway roper so far. Only Shayla Hall has also cleared $6,000. No one else has earned more than $5,000. The top two barrel racers in the Super Series – Emily Beisel and Kassie Mowry – have each been to three straight NFRs. The Super Series winners have combined so far have combined to make 41 National Finals appearances.RESULTS
