RodeoHouston Super Series 3, Round 2 Recap
Round 2 of Super Series 3 of RodeoHouston saw three repeat winners from Monday night, giving each of them a commanding lead heading into the third and final round of the Super Series on Wednesday.
In bareback riding, reigning World Champion Dean Thompson followed it up his rodeo-best 88.5-point ride with an 85-pointer to share first with fellow 2024 NFR qualifier Cooper Cooke.
Thompson is ranked No. 3 in the World, but has yet to make the Finals in a Texas Swing Rodeo this season.
Over in the steer wrestling, Cash Robb, who is from the same hometown as Thompson – Altomont, Utah – was 4.7 seconds. It was the second fastest run of the rodeo and brought his earnings also to $5,500 after he shared Round 1 with Stetson Jorgensen.
Robb has now won three Go-Rounds in his first two years competing in Houston.
In his second rodeo back from injury, Trevor Reiste has responded by quickly knocking down two bulls – Speed Test and Buckskin Billy – for matching 86.5-point scores.
The ride on Buckskin Billy on Tuesday night was payback from a buckoff in West Jordan, Utah in July of last year.
Reiste has tallied $6,000 inside NRG Stadium through two rounds in Super Series 3 after winning $5,836 for a 2-for-4 showing in San Antonio.
The other winners on Tuesday night were Coleman Proctor/Logan Medlin in team roping (5.7 seconds), Kolby Wanchuk in the saddle bronc riding (86.5 points), Aspen Miller (2.8 seconds), Riley Webb in tie-down roping (8.4 seconds), and Emily Beisel in barrel racing (14.58 seconds).
