As Super Series 4 concluded in Houston, several athletes who solidified their Semifinal positions stood out as some of the highest earners in their events so far.

In steer wrestling, Ryan Shuckburgh’s $6,375 cleared Cash Robb’s previous high in the bulldogging of $5,500, and Shuckburgh did in just two rounds. He was 5.7 on his first steer and 4.7 on his second to total $6,000 for two Go-Round wins to get things started. There was no signs of nerves in the 27-year-old’s RodeoHouston debut.

Entering this weekend, only one team roping pair had $6,000 or more in earnings (Egusquiza/Lord with $7,000), but two teams did it in Super Series 4. Marcus Theriot/Wyatt Cox and Lightning Aguilera/Patrick Smith tied at the top with $6,000 apiece. Theriot/Cox doing so with three straight times of 5.5 or faster and a Round 1 win, while Aguilera/Smith won Rounds 2 and 3 with runs of 4.8 and 4.5 seconds.

Weston Patterson’s $8,000 is the most a saddle bronc rider has earned this year in Houston and the only cowboy who has been particularly close through the first four Super Series is Super Series 2 winner Zeke Thurston, who $7,500. No other saddle bronc rider has more than $5,500. Patterson made his with two round wins and three straight rides between 83 and 86.5 points.

In breakaway roping, Jackie Crawford became the third cowgirl to reach at least $6,000, joining Shayla Hall and Aspen Miller. She did so with a second place finish in Round 1, a win in Round 2, and a third place finish in Round 3. All three of her times were 3.8 seconds or faster.

Other Super Series 4 winners were Weston Timberman in bareback riding ($5,500), Seth Hall in tie-down roping ($4,000), Summer Kosel in barrel racing ($6,000), and Luke Mast in bull riding ($3,000).

QUICK DRAW

Eight of Weston Timberman’s nine rides during the Texas Swing have been 83 points or better.

Seth Hall entered the Final Round of the Super Series with just $1,000, but won Round 3, and the Super Series.

Summer Kosel joined Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi and Lisa Lockhart as barrel racers who won multiple rounds in Houston. It is the only event to feature three multi-time round winners so far.

Luke Mast had $0 entering Round 3 in the bull riding, but thanks to his rodeo-best 89-point ride, he not only won the round, he also won the Super Series. It was a three-way tie between him, Rawley Johnson and Tyler Bingham.
