The 111th Snake River Stampede concluded Saturday in Idaho after five days of great rodeo action to begin the Summer Run.

It was a turbulent weekend standings-wise across the ProRodeo landscape, and Nampa’s $492,000 prize pool helped many athletes make much-needed jumps in the standings as summer kicks off.

Cooper Cooke won the bareback riding average with 172.5 points on two, placing second in Round 1 with an 86 and winning the Final Round with an 86.5. The two-time NFR qualifier earned $10,850 in Nampa and jumped from 10th to fifth in the World Standings over the weekend with $87,469 in season earnings.

World No. 3 Jacob Lees had the best ride of the event, going for 88 points on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s Red Sunset to win Round 1.

The steer wrestling featured a four-way tie between Cody Devers, Marc Joiner, Tyke Kipp and Jace Melvin at 3.6 seconds to win Round 2. However, none of those athletes won the Average. Neither did 2019 World Champion Ty Erickson, who won the Final Round.

Instead, it was Seth Peterson who claimed the title at an impressive 12.1 seconds on three head. He also had the fastest run of the event, winning Round 1 with a 3.3. Peterson earned $7,640 and now sits seventh in the World Standings with $54,170 as he positions himself for his first career NFR qualification.

World No. 1 team roping duo Korbin Rice and Cooper Freeman won two rounds on their way to sharing the average title. They tied with Lightning Aguilera and Kaden Profili at 13.3 seconds on three head.

Rice and Freeman each took home $11,073 and hold nearly a $45,000 lead over their respective header and heeler competition.

Ryder Wright and Sage Newman tied at 176.5 points to win the saddle bronc riding average. They also traded round wins, each posting 89 points.

Newman left with $12,013, while Wright earned $11,649. Wright now joins brothers Rusty and Stetson in the Top 10 of the World Standings, sitting eighth.

One-time NFR qualifier Jake Pratt was 24.9 seconds on three head to win the tie-down roping average. He finished seventh, second and second in the three rounds and earned $12,894. Pratt now sits No. 36 in the World Standings with $29,164.

World No. 1 tie-down roper Riley Webb opened with an 8.0-second win in Round 1 but finished outside the money in the next two rounds. He placed fourth in the average and earned $8,862.

Abby Phillips won the barrel racing average with a time of 47.17 seconds on three head. She also won Round 2, posting the fastest run of the event at 15.58. Phillips earned $11,293 in Nampa.

TJ Gray was the only bull rider to make the whistle in both rounds, winning the Average with 164.5 points on two head. Meanwhile, Tyler Bingham had the best ride of the event, going for 88 points on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s Eclipse. Gray’s two rides were worth 81 and 83.5 points.

With his winnings in both Nampa and Reno over the weekend, Gray jumped into the Top 15, moving to No. 14 overall with $74,953.

Stetson Wright won the all-around cowboy title with $1,212 earned in saddle bronc riding and bull riding.
